But before that I heard the rain coming down
It was bouncing lightly off the roof
It's raining
And it's 5 O'Clock in the morning
The rain on the street
Was starting to puddle up
I saw it ripple the reflection of the houselights
And I was warm and I was safe
I wasn't worried about sleeping in my car
Having to choose between wrapping up in extra clothes and encasing myself in a heavy blanket
Or having to run my car almost out of gas to keep warm and the window cracked to not suffocate
Hard to believe I did that to survive
But I was one of the lucky ones
Because all around me people were outside with no car or no shelter maybe near the end of life
Yes it's hard being homeless especially when you have a family or others depending on you
Or you depending on them
And everybody's situation is different no two are the same
I chose to be and regret that time
Maybe it made me stronger and maybe it didn't
Before I became homeless I didn't really worry about it
I said that it was something that happened to others but never to me
Then my wife and kids saw it happen to me
I lost everything
Thanks To God and to those concerned I did not lose my life
Think about me...think about others
It could be, might be or maybe one day be you?
