The Gift of Imperfection

Donna Cavanagh

Perfection is not my aspiration
I just try to do my best
I make mistakes; I often fail
I'm not so different from the rest

We cannot always be at the top
Along with the crest comes the trough
We all have our moments of brilliance
But there are days when we are definitely off

Don't judge me by those off days
And I promise not to dwell on yours
Mistakes give us our human heart
And give us the desire to open more doors

To those who seek out only perfection
Be careful what mistakes you deny
Those missteps can give your life its pulse
And your dreams the inspiration to fly

There is no yardstick for perfection except, in my case, my conscience. What hurts me, I should not do. Treat others better than I would like to be treated works great for me; that I am adding some value to this world! My moto is a clear conscience is the softest pillow. Never carry any grudge, never! In a way avoid trouble makers - President Kennedy's words - forgive your enemies, never forget their names! We need to be more forgiving, accepting our world is not perfect. Nice thoughts, Donna - siva
