The Global Warming Controversy

Shan-Lyn Forsythe
Is man-made carbon dioxide really responsible for heating up Earth according to Al Gore and his empirical views? Or are the scientists right with their data?

There's been a lot of controversy surrounding Global Warming of late. I chose two Google videos, placing them side-by-side in order to illustrate the flip-side versions behind the Global Warming controversy.

As always, it's necessary to look at both sides of a coin when presented with only one version of whatever news circulates around. I will never advocate that not having to take measures for a healthier and greener planet is not essential, but as a researcher, it's always in my best interest to explore all angles to any given situation. Hence, I decided to examine all the issues and facts behind the reality of global warming.

The Controversy

Since the release of Al Gore's movie - "An Inconvenient Truth" (the Google video trailer shown below) - many have been digging for answers to see if Al Gore was correct due to many inconsistencies which were presented within the movie. However, Al Gore continues to ascertain that he is politically correct with his conclusions as he swept over an entire nation with his influences, to the point of asking people over the internet to sign a "card-petition" (http://www.algore.com/cards.html). With over half a million people having signed this petition, Al Gore then presented chock-fulled boxes of people's messages to Congress demanding immediate action to solve the climate crisis.

Many scientists were shaking their heads with what Al Gore's movie strove to propagate, and these scientists sought to reach through the world's populace with their own empirical findings, only to be scoffed at and ignored. Hence, the Global Warming controversy began. These scientists were just as determined as Al Gore to present their views and scientific data.

After viewing the two Google videos, I leave you to be the judge.

Al Gore's View - "The Inconvenient Truth"

Realistically, the message is being driven home that we, the inhabitants of this earth, must do something about the vast pollution which is affecting our home world.

The Scientist's View - "The Great Global Warming Swindle"

Scientists believe that Al Gore shouldn't be the only one to hold the mandate on the Global Warming issue. They have presented some irrefutable hard-core scientific facts which they feel many people should take into consideration in order to have a better understanding of Global Warming.

"When there is more man-made carbon dioxide, the temperature gets warmer", according to Al Gore, but scientists have disproved this. Al Gore may have to take a back seat on this one with his prized Oscar for his film called "An Inconvenient Truth".

Scientists are asking people to take into consideration all the involved contributing factors to our world's environmental dilemma.

The following Google video illustrates factual details of what the scientists presented on their behalf. This video is the actual movie-documentary called, "The Great Global Warming Swindle".

Conclusion

Al Gore's "The Inconvenient Truth" presents one side of the coin. Scientists are illustrating the other side with their version, "The Great Global Warming Swindle". We need to stand on the ledge between both sides to either formulate our own opinions, or to integrate both sides in an effort or attempt to create an over-all and more realistic broad-minded view of our environmental issues.

In whatever we decide, solutions will only come about in our combined efforts to first thoroughly rationalize what needs to be done in actuality, and then to set about in doing the task to improve our home planet.

global warming is a natural process that our planet has been going through for millions of years. there has always been changes in carbon dioxide and hydrogen and oxygen. humans believe that since we're here right now we have to change it but in reality there's nothing we can do. we are all on this earth along for the ride, stop arguing and make the best of it.

"If people would just stop fussing as to who is right and just work together on this maybe this planet would heal faster." - Absolutely! The potential problem though is that SO many people are making the decision to work together based on a theory that is being presented to them as factual. If time ends up showing that the theory is wrong, will people continue to do the right thing anyway or will they feel betrayed and ignore the real goal as a response? And yes...great article Shan!

Global warming is our concern in this era. Who is right between them? You've given us views to make a choice. Good job! BTW thanks, I've printed your article for my collection.
