The Glock 26 9mm Semi-automatic Pistol

This is the Baby Brother of the Glock 17 One of the Best Guns for Home Defense and Concealed Carry Purposes

The Glock Model 26 is a double action only Austrian super sub-compact pistol. It features a polymer plastic frame and metal slide. It is a very light gun at 19.75 oz empty. This makes it easy to carry even in the pocket of a pair of blue jeans. It includes you standard Glock accessories and two ten round magazines. You can also use magazines from the Glock 17 and Glock 19 9mm as well as the 33 round extended magazines since the magazine well is the same size. You would have difficulty carrying it with the larger capacity magazines though. The Glock 26 is pretty much like every other Glock as far as being reliable and the only safety being the trigger. The standard capacity is a ten round magazine and 1 round in the chamber. The sights are fixed and set up pretty good. The prices are not too bad. I picked up one for $420 used. You can find them new online for about $450-$550 in a gun shop. With the quality of the gun I actually think if you save some good money I don't mind buying a used Glock.

I have never had a jam with any Glocks that I have owned or shot. The one problem I did have was with ammo that was a reload and the primer was not set right. With standard factory hollow point ammo that you should carry for self-defense I would say you are more likely to be struck by lightning than to have a 9mm Glock jam on you. It does have a bit more recoil than the Glock 17 since its lighter, but it's not a whole lot. If you can handle a Glock 17 you will not have a problem with the Glock 26. The main benefit though is for a concealed carry gun. There really is not point in this as a first gun unless you just get a really good deal. There really is not anything negative I can say about this other than you should get grip extenders for the magazines to give you a little more recoil absorption and stability. These can be bought for anywhere from $2 for generic grip extenders to $6 for Pearce grip extenders. Most Glock 26 models that I have seen usually have one magazine that already has one magazine with the extension on it.

Like most Glocks there is not much negative that you can say. I will say that the Glock 26 does not eat reloaded ammunition very well. I am not sure why since it's essentially the smaller version of a Glock 17 and I shoot reloads in that all the time. The other thing I would advise you to not shoot through it is steel cased ammo. Most steel cased ammo is Russian. Some people like it since its dirt cheap and others do not. Steel ammo is great to have in a "what if end of the world type scenario". I would not use it for target practice. Eventually you will wear out your extractor and the Glock 26 often will start to have issues quicker than the larger Glocks.

Most reasonable people would hope that they never have to pull one of these on another human being or shoot another human being, but there is a point when you need to think of your own safety. In the neighborhood that I live in there is no doubt in my mind that in a home invasion that many of the people in my neighborhood would kill me and rape my wife. If you heard of the hate crime committed by blacks against whites in the Knoxville Horror you would know they might rape the guy to. I would much rather take my chances defending my life and my wife's and being judged by 12 people than us both being carried by six. I am not way offering legal advice on when you use deadly force. You want to check with you local authorities on that and obey all gun laws concerning storage and how you carry it if you are able to.
