The God and the Goddess Perceptions in Religion

John Savage
The God and the Goddess has been the subject of debates, and wars, the world over, since the dawn of time. Every culture, tribe, race, and person has some belief regarding Gods and Goddesses, even if it is a strong belief that neither exist. Millions of people throughout history, and even up to this day, have been persecuted, tortured and killed over conflicts in these beliefs. The Muslims and Judeo-Christians have been fighting and killing for thousands of years over a dispute concerning which of Abraham's children was the father of the chosen people. It is sad to think that millions of people have suffered and died due to a dispute of which brother is more worthy. Some believe this is exactly what the Bible warns against in the story of Cain and Able.

Some also hold the belief that the debate between God (male) and Goddess (female) is silly. These is too much evidence, scientific and otherwise, to point to a dual God ship. These Gods and Goddesses are related to dual forces inherent in all of nature, from positive and negative, to receptive and projective, to dark and light, and even life and death. Look around you. Do you see just males? How about just females? Isn't it logical to believe that there is both a male and a female inherent force? That the names of the Gods are as interchangeable as the different forms of mans names? For example; John, Juan, and Jean are all names that all have the same meaning and we don't argue over which is right. So why must man find it necessary to cause wars over the name of God? I really don't believe that God/Goddess would favor a group of people based on the name used to call Him/Her.

Balance and proper use of energy are the keys, not the name we give it. So many things in life would be easier for everyone if we could put aside our difference of names, and details and simply look at the message. Be kind, help those in need, don't take more than you need, respect the planet and it's resources, and love that which is creation. Why is it important to call the "right" name of God? Who decides which name is right? Do you really think that the creator made us so we could fight over names? What would happen if people quit arguing with each other, and started learning from each other? The answer, I think, is peace, our creator's true goal.

The only guide lines I adhere to are the types of energies inherent in God, and the Goddess. God energy is akin to positive energy, or projective energy. The Goddess is akin to negative or receptive energy. Neither is right or wrong, or good and evil, they are just different flows of energy with differing purposes.

  • The God and the Goddess have been the subjects of debate for millions of years.
  • It may not be neccesary to seperate the two.
There is some mention of the sacred feminin in the Bible.

I wonder the same thing! Why, when the majority of religions and spiritual practices preach "love one another" have so many people died for their beliefs? Why do the various religious sects make war on others? A very sad thing. If only everybody would play nice in the sand box, and love each other no matter what they believe in, what a wonderful, peaceful world this would be.
