Right now the Wii in my mind does not have the greatest games out. I for one before purchasing The Godfather have not played my Wii in a very long time but that has all changed. For the many people that do not read the full review I will describe this game very quickly then go a lot more in depth. Picture a longer Grand Theft Auto taking place in the 1940s with many mob families. That just sounds fun.

But for the dedicated readers who want to hear more here I go. The day before I purchased this game for Wii I played the other version (The Godfather: Don's Edition) on my friends Playstation 3. I instantly fell in love with the way Electronic Arts utilized the Six-Axis control. This made beating up people a load of fun. I was mighty disappointed though with the graphics on the Playstation 3. After I played through the first few missions with my friends I new instantly that this game would be amazing on Wii. The next day I went to my local GameStop and picked up my copy.

As I was checking out I read the back of the game and noticed it was rated M for Mature for blood, gore, intense violence, strong language, and sexual themes. I totally disagree with this rating and for all the people who get discouraged with M rated games I am telling you it is not as bad as ESRB (rating company) makes it seem. So after I checked out and brought this game home I put it right in my Wii. Once the game starts up you hear a quote straight from the movie. This game I say at best loosely follows the movie but that does not take away from the excellence in the game. One thing I noticed while playing is that the graphics on the Wii version were a lot better then on the Playstation 3 version.

When you start the game you are an outsider and are not trusted by the mob but as the game goes on you gain more respect (you can gain respect by doing optional missions for people). Once the mob trusts you they let you in on secrets and other important mob related things. You can earn money in this game by extorting businesses which is not hard at all to do. Some other great features is how you can precision aim using the Wii remote so you can take out an enemy's knee cap and stop him right away or you can shoot him in the shoulder so he drops his weapon.

This game is very long and you are only truly finished when you take over every business and have done every mission for your family. The only major set back which I feel won't affect the game is that there are only about seven guns. But do not let that discourage you. You can use a baseball bat and something new that EA included is the usage of dynamite and explosive cocktails. These makes the game a lot more fun then the regular run up to your enemies and shoot them. You can even plant a car bomb near your enemy's hideout and watch them all explode. This game is great and if you own a Nintendo Wii and your bored with the games out right now I suggest you pick up a copy of this game
