The Golden Egg

It was Easter Sunday

Of course I'd always go to Church on this special day of our Lord

Then after Church the hunt was on

They said it was a Golden Egg to be found

That egg would be mine I vowed

So the eggs were hidden and like searchers we flew

Here and there scurrying all where

But where was that Golden Egg

I looked and looked and looked and looked

I even looked over by the big tree

Then I spyed another searcher

She also went in search by the big tree

But she did something different

And almost not possible I thought

She was digging dirt

Out of a hole beneath the big tree

Why I wondered

Then she shrieked

I found it I found the Golden Egg

My dreams dashed at that moment

Now I look back after all this time to that Easter Egg hunt

Maybe my little searchers will find that Golden Egg

This Easter Sunday

And bring it home quick

To a long welcomed my smile.
