The Good Old Ways

In the good old days, living was much easier and people were more friendlier and neighbors knew their neighbors. The kids were outside playing baseball, volleyball, hopscotch, jumping rope, jumping jacks or pickup sticks. The mothers were able to stay at home with their children and raising their children to the best of their ability. Fathers were at home on the weekends. The children stayed in school and graduated from high school. The crime rate was not to bad. Parents stayed together. Where have we all gone wrong? Kids today, are now getting kicked out of school at an early age, parents divorcing at a high rate, drug use is rampid, in families and in children. Everything seems to be out of control. How do we all get back to where life is simple again? Fathers and mothers loving their children and just being an family and taking them out to the park or on a picnic or going fishing, or camping. This is what children remember when they grow up. We all need to know how can we be better parents and to be able to raise our children to be good and honest and how to respect others. Our children need to stay in school and to be able to stay out of trouble. Getting them involved in sports, baseball, soccer. Taking your children to church. This will teach you how to become better parents, and it will teach your children how to be a better person. Getting back to the basics and being families again. Respecting one another and loving your neighbor. Remember it starts with you, if we all start now our home life will be a better place.

    Hi Sherry,
Interesting article. It is good to know that you are lamenting the loss of those good old days. Here's an article I wrote on my blog about growing up in a small town in India, here's the link:
