Alicia is Looking for a Status Home
Alicia needed a new home. It was all about image. She toured a grand columned home, like her "old house" but "better." She was tempted to lay out the 2 million plus, but she kept getting phone calls. She left before touring the second floor.
Wendi Scott-Carr's Husband Was a Hit on TV
Wendi's husband and children hit it out of the ballpark with their spousal interview. They narrowed the gap between candidates. Peter needed Alicia to do an interview but Eli promised she'd never have to get involved and she was holding him to his word.
A "Cursed" Suit
Lockhart Gardner's plaintiff, Latin Star Oil, was suing Plaxico-Stillman for unpaid work in Venezuela. The owner called the lawsuit "cursed." He may have been right as he had a heart attack before a scheduled deposition. The case was a fusion of human rights violations, foreign interests and broken contracts. Natalie Flores (America Ferrera), LGB intern/illegal alien and nanny in the Scott-Carr "Nannygate" scandal, found a mistake in Spanish language interpretation that voided the contract and made settlement possible.
Then the Venezuelan President/Dictator Hugo Chavez nationalized Latin Star Oil company. He changed the laws to make his takeover legal. As "owner" he appointed an American TV star/attorney as Venezuelan Counsel General to replace LG. Witnesses recanted because they feared for their families still in Venezuela. The case was going downhill but the firm refused to let it go.
Where is Courtney Love's Academy Award?
The replacement attorney was a television personality. He was swamped by fans wherever he went. Even the judge babbled in his presence, right before she froze Latin Star's assets. Chavez believed his attorney was actually the DA he played on television. He was also concerned that Courtney Love was not appreciated in her own country. "Where is her Academy Award," he wanted to know.
Natalie's Boyfriend Accosted Eli
Natalie's boyfriend, Andre got in Eli's face about his girl. There had been no open flirtations, but with Eli, you never know.
A Half Day Leave of Absence for Alicia
Alicia couldn't walk away from the Latin Star litigation to do a spousal interview for Peter. She really didn't want to do the interview anyway. Then Diane suggested/insisted Alicia take a few hours off. Alicia blamed Eli for meddling in her life to get her to do the interview. She figured out the Democratic Chairman was the culprit when she saw him in Diane's office.
The Tenacious Investigator
Andrew Wyle the investigator wouldn't let up on the State's Investigators case. There was something to those pages missing from Blake's note and he wouldn't let it go. He called Alicia throughout the day. He had an agenda and insisted on being heard.
Alicia's Spousal Interview
It was the final day. Wendy Scott-Carr's husband and children did an interview, so now she had to. She'd refused. She didn't care if "...Peter blames me for the rest of my life...." She changed her mind for Eli. During the interview, Alicia spoke briefly. She said all the right things. They asked if she had future political aspirations. Perhaps they planted a seed.
Victory for Peter, Heartbreak for Alicia
Peter was declared victorious after the last polls closed. He wasn't at the party yet but everyone else was there... except Kalinda. Alicia's children were celebrating. Peter's mother was drunk, singing and playing the piano.
Elsewhere, Cary asked Kalinda to get Alicia to smooth things over with Peter so he could keep his job when Peter took over. Kalinda told Cary she was going to tell Alicia she'd slept with Peter. She was a little too late with the truth.
Investigator Wyle showed up at the victory celebration. He told Alicia that Peter's rumored affair was with a co worker named Lela. Lela didn't exist so he was dropping his investigation. Alicia was walking away, but she recognized the name, Lela and couldn't move another step.
"The Good Wife" cried as the crowd sang "For he's a jolly good fellow" in the next room. Alicia's a tough woman but there's only so much a woman can take. Where was Will Gardner when she needed him?
