Do you know that Sarah Palin now doesn't believe in off shore drilling-and is trying to hypnotize her followers to believe that propaganda, although just in the 2008 presidential election she is on tape screeching "Drill Baby Drill"!
The endless reservoir of GOP hypocrisy is indicated in the article "Sarah Palin now claims she was against offshore drilling all along" or Palin Would Disavow any Stance for a Vote.
It states "According to Sarah Palin, when she said "drill, baby, drill!" throughout the 2008 presidential campaign what she really meant was "drill onshore, baby, drill onshore." On Twitter, Palin claimed that she was actually against offshore drilling and implied the Gulf oil spill disaster may have been prevented under her watch.
Palin will say anything her handlers tell her but she is lying as the article states "First and foremost, Palin actually did favor the type of offshore drilling which caused the Gulf oil spill disaster. Last month when President Obama announced an expansion of offshore drilling Palin actually criticized him for not opening up more of the ocean to offshore drilling. Palin wrote, "while Interior Department bureaucrats continue to hold up actual offshore drilling from taking place, Russia is moving full steam ahead on Arctic drilling, and China, Russia, and Venezuela are buying leases off the coast of Cuba."
She can't attack Obama for not emulating other countries expansion of offshore drilling and say she doesn't support that tactic unless she is a hypocrite.
Bush 43 authorized Cheney's secret energy task force which allowed BP to craft policy as noted in the article the "Downing Street Memo" or Can't we Arrest Them Now?
It states that on 01-29-2001 Bush 43 said "This is the first in a series of meetings which will be chaired by Vice President Cheney on discussing our nation's energy situation. Can't think of a better man to run it than the Vice President.
I've also asked, and he has asked that senior members of the Cabinet participate. This is a matter of high concern for this administration, because it's a matter of high concern for our nation. It's becoming very clear to the country that demand is outstripping supply...."
Cheney will meet with top officials of energy suppliers and producers to shape energy policy for the new administration."
You know when some enterprising lawyer recommends that they investigate W's involvement with Cheney's secret energy task force, W will say that the buck stopped with Cheney. Maybe we'll have a reprise of the scene in which W and Cheney were allowed to testify together in from of the 9/11 Commission.
What about the Gulf GOP politicians? How are they reacting to the catastrophe?
Those GOP politicians are in trouble as indicated in the article "As Oil Arrives On MS Beaches, Will Barbour Continue To Praise BP And Mock News Coverage Of The Spill?" or Gulf GOP had been in Bed With Big Oil.
The article states "Reacting to the looming disaster, Gov. Haley Barbour (R-MS) sounded the alarm to local press yesterday. "This could turn out to be something catastrophic and terrible, but that has just not been the case so far," said Barbour.
Barbour's rhetoric yesterday strikes a very different note from his upbeat tone since the spill. Shortly after the spill, Barbour encouraged tourists to "enjoy the beach," even as dead dolphins were washing ashore. In another instance, Barbour incredulously declared, "some in the news media keep forcing this on the public as the equivalent of Exxon Valdez. Well, the difference is just enormous."
Barbour is in BP's pockets as the article indicates "Barbour's rise in politics has been largely fueled by the oil and gas industry. When Barbour served as the chairman on the RNC during the 1994 and 1996 election cycles, he courted oil and coal companies to donate over $30 million to Republicans - nearly three times the amount given to Democrats. The lobbying firm Barbour founded relied highly on oil industry clients, with Barbour personally lobbying for regulation changes to the Bush White House. And Barbour's election to his current office owes directly to his friends in the fossil fuel business - oil and gas companies provided $1.8 million dollars in contributions when Barbour ran for Governor."
It will be interesting to see him castigating his creators while simultaneously supporting them as the article states "And as early as last week, Barbour went on CNN to blame "news coverage" for the state's woes, telling Wolf Blitzer that "we haven't had enough oil hit Mississippi's beaches to fill up a milk jug." Barbour went out of his way to lavish praise on BP, exclaiming that the British oil conglomerate has been completely cooperative."
He'll have to walk away from that immediately preceding the next election he is involved in.
It is not only GOP domestic policy that the GOP lies about.
The article "McCain tries to blame the Gaza flotilla raid on Obama" or GOP will Accuse Obama of Anything.
It has this Michele Bachmann quote "We have to ask if the Obama administration remains committed to the state of Israel and the right of Israel to exist and defend herself."
The article continues "On Fox News Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) declared that the deadly flotilla raid was "another step in a chain of unfortunate events beginning with President Obama's insistence that there be a [settlement construction] freeze."
The GOP thinks of their apathetic base with the same contempt that Big Brother in "1984" had for the proles. They hold unelectable stances right up until the election and then just lie and expect to get enough red state votes to win. The GOP engages in enough fear and hate mongering to appeal to the baser instincts of their base. It has been a formula they used as far back as the days of the John Birch Society. Some of the current Tea Party members probably had parents who were proud members of the 1958 originated John Birch society and are just carrying on family traditions.
