The Grains of Sand

Donna Cavanagh
The sands of time flow freely
Time, we say, seems to fly
Hours feel like minutes or seconds
The rising sun sets quickly in the sky

The hours will continue to pass
Over this we have no say
But how we spend our time determines
The worth and promise of each new day

When we judge, demean or belittle
When we hurt to keep control
We waste the sand in that hourglass
We waste the joy that feeds our soul

Time does not slow down for us
Each minute we live is time we have earned
Pay attention to life as it flows through the hour glass
For each grain of sand is a lesson we have learned

well written and definitely a 'timely' poem, yesterday seemed to literally fly by, I started writing some things and doing some other work around 9:30 and before I knew it, it was 5:30, the whole day had passed so quickly! we 've got to enjoy the time we do have as it really does go so fast.
