Asparagus is a member of the leek family which is pretty much available all year round. It is a bit expensive compared to other vegetables from their family because asparagus is harvested by hand. For those of you who are not really fond of eating vegetables particularly asparagus, read on to find out why it should be included in your diet.

Asparagus is actually a very good diuretic as it is a great source of potassium and at the same time is also low in sodium. Asparagus helps our bodies get rid of excess water and helps avoid that 'bloated' feeling.

Asparagus can be used in the treatment of asthma, rheumatism and even arthritis. This is due to the anti-inflammatory qualities that asparagus has.

As an anti oxidant, asparagus is great in curing cancer, eye problems, and even cataract.

Don't be surprised if you notice your urine having a different smell, as it is an effect of asparagus intake. Also, only take enough amounts of asparagus and never more, as this can cause kidney stones and uric acid related problems.
