The Great Juice Debate: Libby's Juicy Juice Versus Apple and Eve

Being a parent, we all have given our children a juice box. They are convenient little 6.75 ounce boxes of juice with a straw attached, perfectly sized to fit into our children hands for ease of consumption. Now, I will make a comparison, on the two national brands of Apple and Eve and Libby's Juicy Juice. To make this comparison fair, I will be sticking to just apple juice in the single serve juice boxes. Both companies claim that their juice is 100% real fruit juice, with essential vitamins your children need. Which one is better?

Apple and Eve, according to their nutrition facts panel, contains 90 Calories, no Fat, no Cholesterol, 5mg Sodium, 18 grams of Sugars, 167% of Vitamin C, and 1% of Calcium. The Libby's Juicy Juice contains 100 Calories, no Fat, no Cholesterol, 20 milligrams of Sodium, 22 grams of sugars, 167% of Vitamin C, and no Calcium. Both taste like Apple Juice, however the Juicy Juice tastes more sugary than the Apple and Eve brand. Both claim they are 100% Juice, but the Juicy Juice brand has 10 more calories and 4 more grams of sugar, and no calcium.

I contacted both companies, and ask them why their juice had more or less sugars and calories than the other brand, and was surprised by their varied responses. Juicy Juice only responded with an auto message thanking me for contacting them. The Apples and Eve Company not only responded with an email, they also sent me a letter in the mail with coupons. I was very impressed with the Apple and Eve Company and their customer service. In their personal response to me, they told me the reason their juice has less calories and sugars than the Juicy Juice Brand is that they use 100% organically grown apples and therefore, nothing is chemically altered to create a higher sugar content. They thanked me for my inquiry and told me they were sending out a letter with some coupons. Within 5 days of my email I received me letter just as promised.

In my opinion the Apples and Eve brand is better, their juice is made from organic fruits whereas Juicy Juice is made from regular fruit. Apples and Eve have less calories and sugars because their fruit are not chemically altered to produce a higher crop yield. The price for Apples and Eve is a bit higher than the Juicy Juice brand, but I feel it is worth it. What has made up my mind is their customer service; Apple ad Eve hands down has the best customer service! I was very impressed with their personal response to me as well as going above and beyond by sending me a thank you letter and coupons, even though I had not requested any. Juicy Juice didn't even bother to respond to me personally and failed miserably on its level of customer service.
