June is national great outdoors month, and during this time set aside to focus on the importance of participating in outdoor activities, you'll find an abundance of fun, interesting ways to get your family outdoors and moving. Wheather its biking, fishing, boating, hiking or something else entirely, if it gets you outside and exercising, do it. There are many activities planned in the area of South Carolina to honor the tradition of the Great Outdoors Month celebration. Activities that encourage a healthy, active lifestyle in our families.

Pleasant Ridge County Park in Marietta S.C. which sits on 240 acres of preserved wilderness, will be sponsoring various guided hikes and tours of there grounds. Nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains, you'll find hiking, picnicking spots and many more recreational activities. Including fishing from a 5 acre lake loaded with rainbow trout.

Table Rock State Park in Pickens S.C. is one of the most beautiful parks to be found in our region. Hike through the many wooded trails with the picturesque Table Rock mountain as the back drop. Pass by the many lakes and rivers while enjoying the various plant and animal life. Enjoy picnicking, hiking, fishing and swimming.
Cleveland park in Greenville S.C. is an ideal location to take your family for a fun afternoon spent outdoors. Situated on 126 acres on the banks of the Reedy River, you'll find many nature trails to hike, a Vietnam Veterans memorial and even a zoo.

The Waterfront Park in Charleston S.C. provides the natives with a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in one of S.C. busiest tourists attractions. Patrons can enjoy a picnic on the pier or in one of the many gardens offered by the park, or even along the banks of one of the many waterways.

Reedy River will also be sponsoring there nighttime concert series during the month of June from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peace City amphitheater in downtown Greenville. It's a free concert series sponsored by the city and features a wide variety of music including jazz, rock and country. Bring your favorite lawn chair, picnic and blanket to enjoy the festivities. However you must purchase $1.00 armbands to buy alcohol.

Chimney Rock State park will be hosting several guided hikes and tours of there park. Including their Off The Beaten Path Guided Hike, which is a 2 hour hike through the shady side of the river, where you'll discover many forms of marine life hidden under rocks, this tour is $20.00 per person. Cleveland park in Spartanburg S.C. offers many different activities for families. From there recently redone playground with all the latest gadgets your kids are sure to love, to the scenic walkways around the lakes filled with fish, you're family is sure to have a blast. And no trip to Cleveland park is complete without riding the train, which takes patrons on a scenic tour of the park for $1.00 each.

There's also Barnet Park which is located in uptown Spartanburg S.C. This park is most famous for its interactive fountain, where children enjoy playing in the cool water during the hot months of summer. They also have the Barnet Park amphitheater, which often hosts some of the local and regional talent from the area. The park offers picnic areas, clean restrooms and water fountains.
