The Boo Barn is much like a haunted house and is recommended for everyone up to the age of 12, though most enjoyable for adults as well! The Boo Barn is filled with scary Halloween objects - witches, ghosts, mean looking skeletons, it might not be suitable for some sensitive kids.
There are horse drawn or tractor drawn hayrides that take you through the Enchanted Forest. Or shoot pie sized pumpkins into the woods from the Pumpkin Cannon! Amusement park rides are offered during the festival. Choose from the Ferris Wheel, Carousel and more, plus play games on the Farm Midway.
The Pumpkin Picking Patch has thousands of huge orange globes to choose from and is open daily from 10 am until dusk. The Cackling Hen Revue is a unique performance of muppet like hens clucking in tune with one another. It costs a buck usually, but is free over the Halloween Fall Festival weekends. The kids love it!
The Fall Festival in Clarence offers a magic show featuring The Fabulous Mike the Magician plus a juggling comedy act. Face painting is offered to the kids for free up until the last couple of October weekends.
The kids will have a ball on the extensive playground equipment, all farm/tractor themed, with some extra Halloween themed activities. They will also enjoy the petting zoo, complete with camels, llamas and other animals, plus pony rides!
The Pumpkin Palace and Bakery is an excellent source of Halloween decorations. This "General Store" offers handmade crafts, hangable scarecrows, customized pumpkins, and more candy than any kid could ever want. Don't forget the bakery with home made pies, cakes and cookies.
Some events that take place at this Fall Festival include:
-The Oinktoberfest - Bands play, ribs are barbequed, people eat, awards are handed out. This is a big deal in Clarence and groups from all over New York State including Canada sign up to see who can cook up the best barbequed ribs.
- World Pumpkin Weigh Off - Can you guess how big the world's largest pumpkin weighed in at? In 2007, the world's largest pumpkin came in at a whopping 896.5 pounds, but that's nothing compared to the 2006 champion at 1208.5 pounds. Where will the 2008 champ come in on the scales?
- Pumpkin Farm Olympics - During Mid October the Pumpkin Farm Olympics are held. There is the Pumpkin Relay, the Pumpkin Hurdle, Pumpkin Dash, Pumpkin Leap, Pumpkin bowling and more. Individuals or teams can join in on this fun.
A visit to the Great Pumpkin Fall Festival will satisfy all of your Halloween and Fall appetites. Young and old alike can take part in nearly everything under the sun that has to do with pumpkins.
