The Great Race XXXIII will take place in Auburn, NY on August 8th, 2010. It is the 33rd annual Captain Myles Keogh Paddle, Wheel, and Run. The race is a team relay race where participants run, bike, and either canoe or kayak.

There are five different race options available. In the Traditional Canoe Race, one runner runs 10km, one cyclist rides 19.5 miles, and two canoeists paddle 4 miles. In the Short Canoe Race, one runner runs 5km, one cyclist rides 10 miles, and two canoeists paddle 2 miles. Three person teams can compete in the kayak divisions. The Traditional Kayak Race consists of a 10km run, 19.5 mile bike, and 4 mile kayak paddle. The Short Kayak Race has the same distances as the Short Canoe Race. There is also a Tandem Race where one person runs 10km, the other bikes 19.5 miles, and both canoe 4 miles.

The race takes place in Emerson Park which is along Oswego Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Participants of all ages and skill levels compete to win or just for fun. After the race, there is a complementary lunch and entertainment for competitors and volunteers in the park.

The running portion of the race begins in the park and travels through Auburn. The bike ride is challenging and hilly and goes through the Town of Owasco. Paddling will take place in Owasco Lake.

Entry fees for a four person canoe team are $88 per team before July 31 and $100 after. Three person kayak teams pay $83 per team until July 31 and $95 after.

Awards will be given to the first twenty finishing teams in the traditional races and the first five in the short races. There will also be awards for the top 20 percent of teams in each category. Male, female, mixed, couple, corporate challenge, and family categories are divided into age groups.

A free kids fun run will also take place the morning of the races. The fun run will start at the same time and run for a mile along the running route. Kids will start behind the rest of the group so that they will not be trampled by faster runners.
