The Great Secret of Weight Loss

Ralston Heath
As we all know, being overweight can have many bad side effects such as low self-esteem, depression, health risks, and physical incapacitation. Without weight loss, we face a severe lack of a quality of life; we will not be able to enjoy many things because we are forced by our weight to miss out.

The diet plans and weight loss programs we see on TV and in magazines want us to give up all the foods that we love, cut down or even cut out all the really tasty stuff, and then be happy about it.

I must tell you that I love meat, almost any way it can be cooked and seasoned and served is good for me. Cheeseburgers are my favorite. There just is no real way to ruin meat (unless it is burned) and to give up all that meat was just too much of a sacrifice. Since I could not give up my addiction, I had to find a way around it.

The key is all in the timing

One of the biggest changes that we can make to start seeing some weight loss is to not eat for a few hours before we go to bed. If we know we will be going to bed soon and we cannot resist eating, then we should eat lightly. The huge majority of the calories you eat just before bedtime are turned into fat on your body. So quit making fat, you just have to work harder to lose it.

We all know that physical activity burns calories, so we want to take in our calories when our body is going to use them, not when our body is going to save them for later. Eating at bedtime is just a habit, we all have habits and always will, the trick is to make our habits work for our good, make it your habit to not eat at bedtime.

Then there is the activity

Moving around burns calories, the more you move the more you burn. I know your saying "duhh" right now as you already knew that, but consider this: take in your calories when you are going to be doing all that moving around. This one little change will help you to experience the weight loss you desire.

Eat smaller meals if you are not going to be active. This will help your body to not have to store any fat on you, and will help you feel better in the end. Switch out a few of the high calorie foods for that low calorie stuff when you know you are going to be inactive.

Of course, there are always exceptions, such as the super bowl party, thanksgiving and so forth, for these just enjoy yourself but don't pig out. Eat your pizza and wings, just not the whole plate. Then make sure you do not eat any more at bedtime.

For those of you thinking about eating in the middle of the night, this is the same as eating at bedtime. If you have to fill up on carrots or apples, not ice cream and cheeseburgers. It may seem strange at first but when you start seeing those pounds going away you will accept the idea and get used to it.

Be Blessed
