One of our very favorite St Patrick's day traditions, here in Portland, Oregon, Is the annual St. Patrick's day General Tso's Blintz/Knish Fiesta hosted by Temple Shalom Jacobo de Miguel en la Ventana con Pollo Loco del Padre Fung Chow.

For over 57 years, the congregation of Temple Chow, as we like to call it, has called out to the citizens of Portland and asked them to come together in a joyous celebration of Irish Catholic, Mexican, Chinese, Judaic diversity during which time blintzes, and knish', made in the mandarin and xuajapa traditional ways, are offered to all members of the community at no charge, as a way of bringing the entire community together in a celebration of the great miracle that took place over 600 years ago when St. Patrick of the Goyzen made a tiny cup of Sabath wine turn green, and in doing so, managed to scare off the plague of three inch locust, and at the same time, help the great rabbi - Moishe ben Chow Cardoza, begin the planning of the upcoming Passover Seder whilst recovering from wounds that he suffered defending the Great Wall against the tyranny of Hernando the Turk.

This often forgotten, yet vitally important cross denominational, and cross cultural event is one of the least known, and certainly the very least appreciated Judeo-Christi-Hispano-Asian religious events in recorded history. However, the JCHA community of Portland, in cooperation with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Intel, the Northwest Steelheader's Association, and the remnant membership of the followers of Bahgwan Shree Rajneesh have dedicated themselves to making sure that this traditional day of bliss and brotherhood is observed for a full 13.5 hours as the ancient Lithuanian texts prescribe.

It is hard to describe the looks of bright and shining hope on the faces the devoted monks who make the pilgrimage to our fair city every year from Quebec to participate in the festivities. I must say that it is a sight that every living human being should commit to seeing at least once in their lifetime
