Following the 1971 season the Washington Senators upped and moved to Texas and became the Texas Rangers. In 36 seasons in the Lone Star State, the Rangers have had their share of memories including 3 Western Division Titles. During their history they have been primarily known as a hitting team. Here is a look at the greatest hitters to play for the Texas Rangers since the move from Washington D.C. This list only takes into account years spent while in Texas .

Ivan Rodriguez (1991-2002) Ivan "Pudge " Rodriguez is the Texas Rangers all-time leader in hits with 1723 hits. He finished his career in Texas with 215 home runs (3rd all-time) and 829 RBI's (2nd all-time). Ivan hit .300 or better in 8 straight seasons from 1995-2002. He is also the Texas Rangers all-time leader with 344 doubles. He finished his career in Texas with .305 batting average. He won the 1999 American League Most Valuable Player award when he hit .332 with 35 home runs and 113 RBI's.

Juan Gonzalez (1989-1999, 2002-2003) Juan Gonzalez is the Texas Rangers all-time leader with 372 home runs and 1,180 RBI's. He drove on over 100 RBI's seven times with the Rangers, including 157 in 1998 which is the Texas Ranger single season record. Juan also won two Most Valuable Player awards, one in 1996 and one in 1998. His 1595 career hits with Texas is third all-time in Rangers history.

Rafael Palmeiro (1989-1993,1999-2003) Rafael Palmeiro is the Texas Rangers all-time leader in runs scored with 958. He ranks second in team history with 1692 hits, 321 doubles, 321 home runs and 1039 RBI's. From 1999-2003 he drove in over hundred RBI's and hit at least 38 home runs in each season. During that time he averaged 43 home runs and 123 RBI's.

Ruben Sierra (1986-1992,2000-2001,2003). Ruben Sierra ranks fifth in team history with 180 home runs, third with 742 RBI's and fifth with 1281 hits. Ruben Sierra is also the Texas Rangers all-time leader in triples with 44.

Michael Young (2000-Present) Michael Young currently ranks fourth in team history with 1305 hits including 221 in 2005 which is the Rangers single season record. He has gotten 200 or more hits in each of the past 5 seasons (2003-2007). He currently has a .302 career batting average and he led the American League in hitting in 2005 with a .331 average. He also hit 52 doubles in 2006 which is the Texas Rangers single season record.
