The Greatest Quarterback of All Time

Peyton Manning Wins 4th AP MVP

Who is consistently better every year as a quarterback in the NFL? Who holds the record for touchdowns thrown in a year? Who is the leading quarterback that everyone is now imitating and trying to use his game? The answer is undeniably Peyton Manning.

The only reason the Colts are not undefeated at this juncture in the year is because the Colts coach pulled Peyton from the lineup to save him for the playoffs. The Colts ended with their first 14-win season ever 14-2.

2009 AP MVP Peyton Manning

Peyton all but ran away with the votes cast by 50 sportswriters this year. 39 ½ went to Peyton with 7 ½ going to Drew Brees who had a sensational year with New Orleans Saints. Of the remaining 3 votes, 2 went to Phillip Rivers and 1 to Brett Favre. No other quarterback was mentioned.

This award for Peyton breaks his tie with Brett Favre who remains in the league far beyond the age when he should have retired. While Favre's playing days are coming to a close on a great career Peyton's is just starting.

Peyton who already has had a great career with Hall of Fame records to his credit will continue to play for years to come. In the 2009 season he threw for 33 touchdowns, 4,500 yards passing and a passing completion percentage of 68.8%.

2009 NFL Playoffs

No doubt among fans that the Indianapolis Colts are the favorite to win the AFC Championship and play for the Lombardi Trophy in February. All because Peyton Manning will be at the helm. I believe he also is the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl and its MVP trophy as well.

Whether you are a Peyton Manning fan or not you have to respect his best of breed play. No other quarterback in the league today can touch Peyton's skills let alone match his records.
