The Green Revolution Versus Imperial Oil

This Time David Must Beat Goliath

Jabari Abramson
After one of the worst oil spills in history and BP has come under fire and has been at the foot of many talking points in regards to alternative energy and a green future, yet once again, similar to the 1970s, politicians have failed to move past the rhetoric and take action. This unfortunate accident has cost the country its dignity once again but must succumb to the plentiful use of oil in every facet of every industry.

What BP and many of these imperial corporations need is a boycott from every angle. Shareholders should remove their ownership, television networks should deny any commercial, consumers should refuse to use a BP pump and politicians with any affiliation should remove ties with the company. Even if it would cost them large campaign contributions, they would still have the support of the people and the country needs a politician that stands up to imperial corporations and move forward for the people.

Even with the common rhetoric of global warming and progressing with green energy, politicians still accept large contributions from big fossil fuel industries and fail to move forward with any legislation that would spur green energy growth. Many are blocked with the typical comment of losing jobs but fail to see that those jobs are needed to be lost if this country is to lead the green revolution.

As the population grows the need for energy is fast becoming a crisis and with much of the world in poverty, providing solar panels and wind turbines could help increase growth of many developing countries and allow the opportunities for anyone to be a positive impact in the world.

Louisiana Senator David Vitter vows to keep drilling for oil offshore, despite the disaster, due to the state of the economy and the need for jobs, but what isn't repeated is the number of dollars spent protecting oil fields overseas and wasting valuable dollars our veterans will never see.

Imperial oil, auto, tobacco, alcohol and defense contracts, the questionable stay in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan as well as many other military bases, the wasteful drug war and the greedy, immoral banking system all have one thing in common. They have the ears and pockets of the all politicians local, state and federal and will never let go of that so easy, carefree lifestyle. It's no wonder the state of things get better for the rich and worse for the poor. The poverty-wealth gap keeps increasing as taxes and costs burden the already hurting citizens of a corrupt nation and it is time the citizens finally step up and take control of the situation.

No silver bullet legislation or one-time event will help change the course of this crashing kingdom but drastic steps in every corner of this country need to change from education to regulation and reform to healthcare. The first step is to free our politicians from the corporate slave holdings and open their eyes to the power of the people. No time more than ever have we needed a savior from buy everything world of imperial corporations.

It is time to topple the titans.

  • Big oil is a giant that has crushed the people for years and must be defeated.
  • An all of the above to green technology needs to be implemented and jobs started immediately.
  • Congress needs to get the big boot of corporations off their neck and breathe.
A greener future will benefit the world and our race.
