The Halloween Possession

"Don't go in there" kept running through my mind as I steadily approached the house. I had been here before, and I knew what would happen. Yet, I was unable to control my legs as they steadily propelled me closer and closer to the inevitable.

My dreams as far back as I can remember, starting when I was a small child of no more than three or four, have been filled with demons of the night that delight in human torture, the likes of which I never fully understood, at that tender age. It has taken the wisdom that comes with adulthood for me to fully grasp the horrors that these devils bestowed upon the unsuspecting.

I had always thought that the house of my dreams in which these demons dwelt was just a figment of some long ago Halloween remembrance, perhaps some half forgotten horror movie, not an actual place that I could walk up to and place a trembling hand upon the ice cold door knob and enter. But here I find myself, doing just that. Some unseen force is compelling me forward and I am powerless to disobey.

As I enter the front door the first thing that I notice is the smell. A horrible pent up, musty, damp odor with an unidentifiable undertone, I have smelled this before but I cant quite put my finger on it, but as repulsive as this odor is, it also stirs some powerful emotion deep inside of me that I must release.

I continue to walk toward the back of the house, never turning on a light, as I know each and every nook and cranny, there is no need for a light. I have traveled this path many times before. I know the route by heart. I am heading to the particular door where when opened, will reveal a steep set of rickety stairs that I must descend in order to reach my destination.

At the bottom of the stairs, I now must follow the hallway to another door, which enters into a soundproof room where the demons enslave their victims to perform their unspeakable acts. The door is secured with a formidable lock, as well as with metal brackets, embedded deeply into the wall in which a heavy chain is threaded for extra precaution.

My hand involuntarily reaches into my pocket and pulls out a set of keys. I slowly unlock the door dreading the moment that I will come face to face with my own inner demons. But confront them I must for it is Halloween night, the one and only night of the year that I allow them to take full possession of my mind and do their will.

The first sight I see as I enter the room is my victim secured spread eagle from heavy chains attached to the concrete ceiling and floor. The demon is becoming agitated and I will be unable to control him for long, but I must make sure all is prepared before his release. I take inventory of my tools that will be used to inflict pain. I choose the fillet knife which is closest to my grasp and let the demon loose, as I turn to fulfill my dream....
