The Halo Breast Pap Test is a New Early Screening Procedure for Breast Cancer

The last thing you will want to find on your body is a new lump in your breast, or under your arm. There are many signs of breast cancer, which include finding a lump, experiencing pain in the breast, dimpling around the nipple, thickening and irritation on any part of the breast, nipple discharge or any change in the shape and size of your breast.

Atlanta's women (and men) with any of these symptoms should see their physician at once. One test done on women is a Halo pap test of the breast. The Halo pap test is a 5 minute procedure that acts like a breast pump. It is a non-invasive way to collect cells from the ducts. It is less invasive than a ductal lavage. The procedure is especially beneficial to younger women between 25 and 40 years of age. This is a breast cancer screening test that will pick up precancerous cells in their breasts. This test should be done yearly. There is a very small amount of discomfort. It may feel like the breast is being pinched, but not nearly as bad as a mammogram. The video can be seen here.

Where can women of Atlanta get a Halo breast pap test?

The Halo breast pap test is still pretty new. This examiner found one place in Georgia that does this test in Columbus, Georgia. There may be other doctors that do this test in Atlanta, but they aren't listed yet on the Net. If you are interested in having a Halo breast pap test, ask your physician where in Atlanta the test is offered.
