We needed a new slow cooker, and the old one had gotten well, old. After looking at several of the standard models, we found the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker at Wal-Mart for $31.96.

The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker has features that set it apart in my view. First of all it is a larger slow cooker than I have been used to in the past, and it has a lid that locks. This is a really big issue for us because we have cats.

Cats get very curious as to what is happening in their world, and a slow cooker on the counter is completely irresistible. Whenever we used the old slow cooker, we had to watch them like the proverbial hawk. They would try to get into the lid to see what smelled so yummy.

With the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker, this is no longer an issue. You put your food inside, put the lid on, and lock it down.

The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker also has a light that tells you the power is on. The old slow cooker we had didn't. One day, I set a pork roast in the slow cooker, and plugged it in. My wife and I went out for the day and expected to come home to the smell of pork with chilies wafting through the house. We walked in and I realized I had forgotten to turn on the slow cooker. We called out for a pizza that night.

That won't happen with the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker because as soon as you turn it on there is a pilot lamp above the dial. In addition the dial give you a low, high, and keep warm setting.

The crock insert also comes out and is dishwasher safe. The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker has a large 6 quart capacity. You can place a 3 pound roast or 6 pounds of chicken. One problem we had with the old 5 quart slow cooker was not being able to place a ham in it t cook. We have no problem getting a 10 pound ham in the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker.

My wife makes killer chicken wings. We used the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker to make a batch, and took them to the Church Potluck recently. We had coked them at home, and then just used the "keep warm" setting at the church.

The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Qt Slow Cooker is the best slow cooker I have ever used.
