The Hampton Inn in Rohnert Park is very new, opening in October 2007. Everything in the hotel is clean, well appointed and well thought out. There are pictures of the surrounding areas as you walk into the hotel. The doormat offers a special message. When I arrived the employees were quick to check me in, attentive and offered interesting chit-chat while registering my stay.
The lobby, where breakfast is served in the morning had apples and oranges out for hungry guests to snack on. There were couches, a large television and comfy chairs for guests to use as they see fit.
As I went into the elevator I was greeted by the first of several adorable photographs on the inside doors of the elevator. When I left the elevator and walked down the hall to my room, I noticed that each room had their own photograph decorating their room number.
The room had a comfortable bed, sheets and pillows but that is the least interesting part of the room. Almost all the amenities have a little discussion with the guest. The coffee is not regular and decaf, it is leaded and unleaded. The hot and cold cups offered in the room say "Some like it hot" and "Some like it cold". The note pad is called "the thought pad." The alarm clock radio has been preset with local radio stations and labeled by the type of music, "Rock", "Country" and the like. The soap, shampoo, lotion and other amenities offer the same conversation to guest as well. Even the wakeup call made me feel comfortable and welcome.
The second night of my stay at The Hampton Inn in Rohnert Park, I decided to order room service which is offered by the nearby Boathouse Sushi Restaurant. They have a direct phone line from the hotel, so they can see the room number, the same way a normal room service would. My husband and I ordered four or five items and were told it would be up to us in less than a half hour, if someone from the Hampton Inn could come by. I asked them if I was supposed to call down to the front desk and she said no. Forty five minutes later our dinner arrived. There were three items that we had ordered, one that we did not, and one that we did order was missing. I called the restaurant again and they made the same Hampton Inn comment, added a complaint about how long the Hampton Inn employee took and another 15 minutes later our food arrived again but the problem was not corrected. The Hampton Inn employee looked annoyed as he essentially chucked our food at us and took off down the hall immediately. I called again to the restaurant and asked them to refund my money. They put me on hold for over 10 minutes before telling me that our money would be returned.
The fact that the food was wrong was not the fault of the Hampton Inn. The relationship between the staff of the Boat House and Hampton Inn is the responsibility of The Hampton Inn through. The way The Hampton Inn's employees behave when delivering the food is their responsibility. It is the responsibility of The Hampton Inn to make sure all the services they offer in the name of their hotel match the quality expectations of their guests.
The next morning I went down to try the breakfast and I was again impressed by the total attention to detail offered by The Hampton Inn in Rohnert Park. The conversation in my room continued in the breakfast nook with comments about fruit, oatmeal, cereal, utensils, coffee and the warm food. Unlike other hotels in the same price range, they encouraged us to take our food into our rooms if we felt more comfortable eating it there. As I was returning to my room, I noticed that there were bagged breakfasts, called Grab and Go Breakfast, set in a designated area so a guest who did not have time to sit and eat could just grab a bag and head out the door.
There is a business center, gym, pool, ice machines, conference rooms, suites, warm breakfast, coffee machine, television, video games, lap desk, LAN connection, free Wi-Fi, and luggage holds.
The Hampton Inn in Rohnert Park costs between $119 -$179 per night.
Except for atrocious room service, The Hampton Inn in Rohnert Park offers a traveler a great value and exceptional experience.
