The Hampton's - Timeless Luxury

Donna Stone

Since the arrival of the English colonists in 1640, through the birth of the Long Island Railroad in 1870, to the Hampton Classic Horse Shows of today, the Hamptons have more than earned the nickname "America's summer playground". Often recognized for its wealthy residents, the Hamptons are actually rich in historical flavor, elegant countryside, and diverse attractions.

Varied terrain ranging from aromatic vineyards to captivating natural preserves to cinematic ocean bays to prestigious horse country makes the Hamptons appealing to a wide range of visitors and residents. The Montauk Pointe Lighthouse, one of the oldest operating lighthouses in the country makes its home on the easternmost side of the Hamptons. Well-known vineyards throughout the region generate fragrant, distinctly flavorful wines which are known far outside their Hampton homes.

Although strong with no-reservation policies, restaurants in the Hamptons offer an incredible range of cuisine selections. Aside from the expected luxury seafood restaurants such as Starr Boggs and Lobster Inn, other four and five star options from American themed restaurants such as George Martin and Indian Cove, to the French Stone Creek Inn, to The Palm's Steak House, to Cajun themed Belle's East are also available. Visitors, locals, affluent and average are all welcome to enjoy the culinary creations prepared by some of the best chefs in the country.

For entertainment, the Hamptons offer everything from horseback riding, wind surfing, whaling, antique shopping, boating, fishing, diving, and surfing to a healthy nightlife of upscale bars and clubs. For more relaxing recreation, Westhampton Beach offers tranquil tree-lined streets of colonial homes with its ocean paradise.

Unquestionably rich in a multitude of ways, the Hamptons are also wealthy in lifestyle options for residents. From real estate perspectives to dining options to recreational activities, the opportunity to meet the needs of every guest and resident is strong.

The real estate market in the Hamptons is diverse, but without question, luxurious. 18th century Victorian homes offer exquisite, classic architecture, multiple bedrooms, and spacious living quarters in the eight to ten million dollar range. Waterfront homes with approximately 7,500 square feet are available in the forty million dollar range. Meanwhile, Georgian homes featuring multiple fireplaces, elaborate period moldings, 12,000 square feet of living space, and intricate French doors are available in the sixty to seventy million dollar range.

The breathtaking countryside and rolling beaches of the towns and villages that make up the northeastern island of New York called the Hamptons offer timeless luxury not found elsewhere.
