The Hand of God

Penny White
I saw the hand of God today,
as a newborn leaf brushed my face,
as the rising sun painted the sky,
and morning birds took flight;

I saw the hand of God today
in a glass of cool, clean water,
in a plate of food upon my table,
and a walk to the grocery store,
because I am able;

I saw the hand of God today
in a neighbor, a friend in need,
as I helped plant a garden seed,
while I read a book,
heard a song,
went to work,
hurried along;

I saw the hand of God today
as the setting sun painted the sky,
while stars appeared at twilight,
when I heard the laughter of a loved one,
as I took my rest at night;

Each wind blowing through the trees,
every birdsong carried on the breeze,
Everything ~ everything ~ great and small,
The hand of God touches all.
