Product Overview:
If you're a fan of the Swiffer disposable mops then you'll be a fan of the Bissell 1867. It will not only do a noticeably better job but it also requires noticeably less elbow grease. With a mop head dimension of 7 ½ inches by 10 ½ inches and weighing in at just under 7 lbs it is also comparable in size to the vacuuming swiffer. You can even hang this device on the wall just like the Swiffer brand cleaner. The Bissell cleans surfaces by generating steam from a water reservoir that is housed on the back of the unit. The instructions dictate that you should use distilled water, but I've used tap water and it has performed just fine. If you have especially hard water I would stick with distilled. Because you are using steam to clean you avoid spreading all those harsh chemicals all over your house, and I think everyone would agree about that being a good thing.
You'll not only do a better job cleaning your home with the Bissell 1867 but you'll also likely ultimately save a little money in the long run. If you're not buying disposable dish rags or Swiffer clothes you're going to avoid filling landfill with un-needed disposable goods. All you need to do for maintenance is remove the included cloth over for the base of the mop and toss it in the dirty clothes. Just was it as you would a regular towel.
While the Bissell 1867 will easily lift up all those stains, it won't deliver the steam unless you press down on an uncomfortable trigger. After a few minutes your forearm gets a little tired. Also, only two mop cloths are included from the manufacturer so if you have a lot of surface to clean then I would recommend that you pick up additional cloths. I found two to be adequate for 1,200 square feet of hardwood floors.
Product Value:
Price well under $100 online and in stores I find the Bissell 1867 to fantastically affordable. No one likes to spend money on cleaning supplies, so why not make this one time investment and avoid picking up chemicals disposable pad replacements for those other mops. I especially recommend this product to those with children since this can be used to avoid the addition of chemicals you your home's surfaces.
