The Handicaps of So-called Equality

Chapati
Are people truly born equal? Or is it a lie that rich people tell poor people, to keep them from rioting? If people were truly born equal, how come some people are born with silver spoons and some others are born with no spoon at all? Will there ever be racial, gender or financial equality?

Some people were born with birth defects that would render some of them incapable of looking after themselves even in adulthood. When some leaders say stuff like, "all men are born equal", are they really sure of what there are saying or are they just trying to win elections?

In some countries, it is a crime to be born with a slight or major handicap. Some parents have been reported to have strangled their mentally challenged kid(s)! In some parts of Africa, any woman who gives birth to a child with any kind of birth defect, she will be accused of witchcraft. It is believed that God is punishing the woman because of her wickedness (can you beat that?!)

A story was reported about a woman who drowned her son in the river in the wee hours of the morning. When she was caught by security operatives, she said she did it because the boy was born with "down syndrome" and she didn't want the boy to grow up in that condition, because the society will not embrace "his kind"

Okay, the handicap kid made it (his or her life was spared at birth), grows up to adulthood, he or she goes looking for a job after college graduation (that is, if he or she survived the constant teasing and back talk!), but lo and behold, he or she is unable to get a job! Why? Oh I know! They can't get a job because he or she had the misfortune of being born with or without something they didn't ask for. It sucks, doesn't it?

Some people had the misfortune of being born into less than poor homes and had no access to quality education, what am I talking about? Some have no access to any kind of formal education at all! They grew up in squalor and embrace it, because they do not know or have the means of getting out of it.

Some people have struggled all their life and still do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some people do not even have to struggle for anything because just one phone call to "daddy" is going to do the trick. That some people do not know what it is to go hungry for even a few minutes; it is always "which restaurant should we dine at this evening?" Whereas some people wouldn't recognize "fine china", even if it walked up and introduced itself.
