Let's run over the plot. The Hangover is a movie about a bachelor party gone wrong in almost every way. This sounds like a pretty good premise. It seems like it's going to have a lot of outlandish humor, and often some very compromising character situations and developments. The only question is, does The Hangover Movie deliver? Welcome to The Hangover Review.

I'm skeptical when I go to see a new comedy, especially one called The Hangover. It seems like all of the new comedies being released are either Judd Apatow films or they're just cheap ripoffs of Superbad, etc. Needless to say, I'm a bit of a pessimist. That being said, The Hangover is very funny. Some of the humor seems a little bit recycled from previous comedies of our generation, but there is just something about it that brings a sort of freshness to the big screen. The humor didn't strike me as overly raunchy either. It's not as dirty as it is just very very strange and off the wall.

One of the things that sets The Hangover off is it's setting and environment. In the heat of Las Vegas, our characters struggle to get through the day. The idea of bringing Vegas to the viewer is very well executed, and it really serves to get the viewer into "the party mood". After all, when you're watching a movie about Vegas, those predetermined humor switches go off because Vegas is always a good time!

The chemistry between all of the characters in The Hangover is another main selling point. Often times, comedies fail to pull off the believability of certain situations in movies. You've got to have a natural chemistry between your characters if you're going to make the audience believe outlandish things. The Hangover delivers in this category. Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis with Justin Bartha are truly great together. They succeed greatly in making the viewer truly believe that they're close, and a very tight knit group.

The Hangover has a great storyline, is a bit less raunchy than Superbad or it's other brothers and it will keep you laughing throughout. Be advised that the R rating that was slapped on this film is a very accurate judgement. It's not for kids, but if you're a fan of other crazy comedies this is sure to be one for the books. If you're looking for a great new comedy that's going to be worth your money, isn't going to disappoint, and one you can quote to your friends go see The Hangover.
