The Happy Heart

Made so by Effortless Joy of Youth

Donna H. Davey

When does the innocence and happiness of childhood slip away and when does pressure and stress take over?

Children seem remarkably content with life and their joy knows no bounds and they are able to make friends simply by smiling, reaching out, and saying hello, and when asked, most will describe themselves as happy.

I almost envy the way they play by pretending and bonding so effortlessly.

I don't come across many adults that take the time to play. They look for fun in places that never give them fulfillment and yet they keep seeking - searching for something that remains obscure to them.

Children don't have that problem. Give them a box and they can spend an entire day absorbed in happy imagination.

I know several people but I don't know many that will describe themselves as happy.

Why?

When and why does happiness escape?

At what age do we stop playing and using our imagination?

I believe play is one way people get joy from life - the kind of bliss that takes you unsuspecting.
