The well-known Harris Ranch Inn and Restaurant is a large resort in Coalinga, California, at the Highway 198 and North Interstate 5 junction, midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is an international showcase for homegrown Harris Ranch Reserve beef, fruits, nuts and vegetables. The Ranch has been a San Joaquin Valley landmark for over half a century and is on the list of California Historic Country Inns.
The buildings of the Harris Ranch complex are built in the handsome early California hacienda style and include 153 guest rooms and suites tastefully decorated in classic country style. All the rooms at Harris Ranch are tax free. Several dining rooms, each featuring its own distinct style, are available for the ultimate dining experience and feature Harris Farm-raised beef and produce.
The Ranch offers over 7500 square feet of fully-equipped, fully-staffed conference rooms, ballrooms and banquet rooms. Accommodations for groups from 10 to 200 guests make the Harris Ranch an ideal location for corporate functions, executive retreats, weddings, tour groups, military groups, family reunions and much more. Golf is located nearby.
The exquisitely landscaped grounds, including several heated spas and swimming pools surround the complex. Strolling through the grassy, park-like setting is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
The Harris Country Store has hundreds of unique items including an extremely fresh selection of bakery goods and desserts, and a meat counter with butcher-cut selections of Harris Ranch beef that can be packaged on ice for safe keeping until you reach your destination. You can call ahead for pick up orders, giving at least a 48 hour notice.
A private airport with a 2,800 foot lighted runway, ample parking, tie downs and aviation fuel is available for fly-in guests. Another division of the Harris Ranch Corporation is the horse farm which breeds, trains and races thoroughbred horses at tracks throughout the United States.
The Harris Ranch Inn and Restaurant is an ideal oasis for any weary traveler to stop, rest and enjoy the harvest.

Fresno County does not charge hotel tax and Harris Ranch is located outside of Coalinga city limits- therefore no hotel taxes are levied.
I don't know! I was surprised too, but they probably just charge more for them, then pay the taxes from that someway. There's always some gimick making things look like you're getting a deal!
Tax free rooms? How'd they wrangle that?
