It definitely relates to me; but could I really do it. I have never been able to grow anything. Really; I once killed a Wandering Jew. My grandmother had a great flower bed overflowing with them. My family assured me you can NOT kill them. Beautiful plant; hard to kill; obviously I am the opposite of skilled with plants if I took one out.
That aside, I guess I am not a real "people person". Some people just seem to have it. They are easy to talk to, great listeners; not me. It takes work. I am realizing now that it takes work for everyone. I am just now really doing intense work on it.
So, mid-February, when I started really focusing on living by the teachings in the Bible; I started to really put others first. I started to really think about all sides of the issue. I didn't want to be right all the time.
Relationships that were suffering greatly were a cause of concern for me. I began to change my actions, change my words and really change my thoughts. Everything didn't change overnight. There was no great thunderclap that happened and made my life idyllic.
Be prepared. One kind word or deed will not erase years of dissension. You may be changing and others may not jump on board. They will be skeptical and they may not reciprocate.
But now, a month later; I am seeing the fruits and the harvest that you hear about. I have started to become a more spiritually thinking person, acting in the way that God intended and it is having an effect.
My strained relations are starting to heal. I have faith that time will allow the scars to fade and the conflict to become just a memory. Through love, patience and a soft-spoken approach I am dealing better with life in general and the people I interact with. I can feel that I am gaining wisdom. Even when that wisdom comes in the form of knowing that I don't know everything and I am not always right.
Wherever you find yourself, whatever strife you may have in your life; take comfort in knowing that time, persistence and walking in love will allow your circumstances to change for the better.
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58
