I personally do believe in ghosts, or some would call it paranormal activity. Whatever you want to call it, there are unexplainable things that happen every day. I live in western Kentucky and we are home to some of the most haunted towns in the United States. One of these towns is about a 2-hour car ride from Murray, KY. They call it the Haunts of Owensboro, located in Owensboro, KY. Where you will take one of the two tours they offer. The first is a 2-hour walk around historical Owensboro, where you will hear stories about haunts, hangings and even some voodoo.

One of the tours, The Theater Workshop that will take you into one of the most historic and haunted structures in Owensboro, KY. Or you can take a ride in the Hearse Tour, which is Kentucky's only ghost tour by a hearse. The Hearse Tour starts at 109 East 2nd Street at the Crème Coffee House; the coast is 20.00 per adult and 15.00 for children under 12 years old. The Hearse Tours run all year long on Friday and Saturday nights only, you will need to call (270) 313-5596 for the tour times. The Walking Tour starts at the same place and is a little cheaper at 15.00 for adults and 7.00 for children under 12 years old. Everyone going on this tour will meet up at 109 East 2nd Street and the tour last for 2 full hours. This tour will take you to the many haunted spots in Owensboro where you will hear tales such as the legend of the Union Soldiers form the civil war that gave their lives protecting the courthouse. Some say that they still protect the outside of the courthouse today. In the back of the courthouse in Owensboro, there stands a huge old lynching tree that your tour guide Mr. Wolfe will tell you all about while on this tour.

One of the other stops on the tour is the Gillam-Hopkins House that was built in 1895 by Dr. Gillam himself. Many people have lived in this house over the years, but there are a couple of the past residents that still haunt the house today, so they say! One of the stories is of a lady in a white Victorian dress that descends the staircase at a certain time every night. Another historical fact about this house is that Rainy Bethea rented out one of the rooms there before he committed the gruesome murder in another house, which he was later hanged for. Rainy Bethea was the very last person to be publicly hanged in America.

With all this said, you will definitely get your money's worthwhile taking one of these great tours in Owensboro, KY. This and many other great tales await you in this very haunted American town.
