Living in the Iowa City area has it's perks.....great shopping, fantastic dining and of course easy access to the University of Iowa and all it entails but quite frankly I become, tired of the hassle of trying to find a place to park near Kinnick during football season. It seems that no matter how early I leave for a game or how carefully I make plans, something happens to create a parking hassle of one kind or another and honsestly, there is nothing like a parking snafu to ruin a great game day. Then as I was about to call it quits when it came to going to games and battling the minivan crowd "THE HAWKEYE EXPRESS appeared on the scene. THE HAWKEYE EXPRESS is a neat train set up that leaves from an area adjacent to nearby Coralridge mall. With parking areas conveniently located minutes off Interstate 80 near Coral Ridge Mall in nearby Coralville and a final stop to the southwest corner of historic Kinnick Stadium, in my honest opinion THE HAWKEYE EXPRESS is the only way to travel to the game in style and comfort!

And one perk I especially like is that parking is free at nearby Coralridge mall with a shuttle taking riders to the nearby HAWKEYE EXPRESS train depot for the ride to the stadium. Talk about neat....you can do some shopping before or after the game and have your transportation taken care of with no hassles...plus the express is fun to ride...full of other fans who are as crazy for the black and gold as I am! And you know, if you are staying overnight before the game, the Hawkeye Express is conveniently located for many motels in the area. Located next to IHOP, you can even stop in there for a delicious breakfast before boarding the train to Hawkeye Heaven....Kinnick staduim and the U of I Hawks! I especially like the stuffed French bread but as my family says....anything is great there!

The round-trip train services costs just $10 per person with children under age 12 riding for free. At prices the way they are for gas and nearby parking, this is a bargain any Hawk fan can agree with. You know, anytime someone can take the hassle out of game day, it's a winner in my book! The train service to Kinnick Stadium is a short 10-minute ride which begins travel back and forth 2 ½ hours prior to kickoff pre-game leaving you plenty of time to tailgae with friends or just soak up the pre-game atmosphere. Service for "The Haweye Express" post-game, begins at the start of the fourth quarter and continues virtually until all fans have left the area. Times of service will be posted and announced for your convenience so listen and learn.

Tickets for "The Hawkeye Express" can be conveniently purchased in advance at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and at the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau Visitors Information Desk at nearby Coral Ridge Mall near the famous carousel. On game day, riders can also purchase tickets at "The Hawkeye Express" depot.

So if you are looking for an alternate to the busy game day traffic and the headache of traveling to and fro to the game....consider THE HAWKEYE EXPRESS and leave the driving to them.....and keep an eye out for me....I'm a little blond with a big love for the Hawks!
