The Chinese call this aural energy flow "chi" and they have even build holistic and drug free homeopathic medicines and treatments for the care and wellbeing of this chi energy. Massage is a simple and therapeutic option at the lower end of the scale for curative or wellness regimens, acupressure and reflexology are more involved and necessitate a skilled and practiced practitioner of their "art", at the far end of the spectrum is acupuncture and even bloodletting. What all of these "treatment" options have in common with one another are that they deal with undamming or unblocking the flow of this life energy along the pathways around us, called "shakras" or meridians to restore complete balance and good health to the recipient. Theses holistic treatment options also share in common the fact that they rely upon the transfer of energy and direction for the blocked energies from a trained practitioner.
Note that I use the word "trained' practitioner of their healing art. Training is very important. As is technique, discipline of ideological directives, and the "power" within the administering holistic healer. Though they may be a licensed masseuse, or accupunture/accupressurist, they are also at the core of their belief system, a holistic healer. There is no mysticism or religious dogma to this simple term but actually solid research and thousands of years of the practices and the often "dramatic" feeling of improvement and restored health that many people experience as a result of regularly receiving treatment to their mind, body, and to their chi.
In various forms even westerners have tried to implement the healing power of touch, such as in religious ceremonies there is often a ritual called "the laying on of hands" and it is based upon the idea that the positive energy flow of the congregation being poured into the body of the afflicted to aid their own energy in warding off whatever illness they are suffering with. There also a great number of Westerner's who believe in the healing and renewing powers of meditation. There are several other "healing with the power of the mind" and other practices that are based upon unlocking the healing power of the mind and the body's own natural healing and curative powers. Tai chi is another such healing practice which has been adopted by the West.
Although many people dismiss these practices and ideals as "new age mysticism" the simple fact of the matter is that there are a growing number of people who are feeling better, living longer, and are even fighting off diseases and illnesses that they may have suffered with for many years and which traditional medicine had failed to provide a complete or lasting cure for. This excerpt from www.toolsforwellness.com/energy-fields.html very succinctly offers a few references to experiments and subsequent results by notable scientists and doctors who were seeking to prove or disprove the existence of the aura or "body energy".
So, is the aura fact, or fiction? The aura has been described in ancient Sanskrit Vedic texts from India and has also been found depicted on prehistoric rock paintings all over the world. Researchers didn't have a mechanism to measure any such energy field until the Kirlians invented the Kirlian camera in the 40's. Thelma Moss, a researcher at UCLA made Kirlian photography famous in the 80's when she showed the world her dazzling pictures of bright and energetic fields of energy around people's fingertips and hands.
Another researcher used indigo colored lenses which actually enabled people see the auric glow.
Chakras are described as rotating "wheels" of energy that are contained within the aura. These charkas contain a variety of colors and are also described as making a subtle sound like a miniature whirlwind.
UCLA researcher, Valerie Hunt used scientific equipment to actually record and amplify the sounds of the charkas. Check out these recordings, the Music of Light.
There are instruments you can use to measure these subtle fields such as the Natural EM Meter or the Egely Wheel. The Egely Wheel is quite fascinating, you put your hand near it, and the wheel will begin to spin. The more your energy, the faster it spins. Even prayer groups have mentioned they can move it at a distance!
There is additional proof of the existence of the aural field all over the internet, in encyclopedias, research papers from noted scientists, doctors, metaphysisists, and other disciplines of modern medicine or science. The fact that we cannot see it does not negate the existence of this body energy. If this energy actually does exist and can be manipulated by practitioners who are trained and licensed to work with this energy, then it may behoove many people who are suffering with chronic pain in their bodies, or reduced mobility due to ill health to look into giving this particular field a try. It may also be important to note that massage therapists go to school for anywhere from 10 months to 2 years to be trained in massage therapy. Acupuncturists and acupressurists must undergo 2-4 years of both pre-med and specialty medical training and intern or externship programs and must be licensed as a Doctor Of Acupuncture in order to practice in either the U.S. or Canada
