The Health Benefits of Mullein - Sore throat
A tea made from the leaves of mullein makes an excellent gargle for sore throat. Make a strong tea according to the instructions above and gargle several times per day or as needed.
The hot tea may also be applied directly to the throat to soothe the pain of sore throat. Make a strong tea and then dip a clean cotton cloth into it, wringing out well. Apply directly to the throat and remove when it becomes cold.
The Health Benefits of Mullein - Diarrhea
Mullein works great as a treatment for diarrhea. Steep one tablespoon of mullein leaves in one pint of boiling water for five to ten minutes. Consume four ounces, or about half a cup, after each bowel movement to treat diarrhea or bleeding from the bowels.
The Health Benefits of Mullein - Sores and Swelling
Mullein works wonders when used externally for open sores, swelling, inflammation and glandular swelling. Open sores may be washed freely in a tea made from the leaves. For swelling and inflammation, a cloth dipped in a hot tea and applied directly to the affected area will be most effective.
The Health Benefits of Mullein - Pain Relief and Sleep
Mullein is a fantastic pain reliever and it does not become habit forming. A strong tea made of mullein flowers will relieve pain and bring sleep and relaxation.
Make a tea of mullein flowers by placing one tablespoon of the dried flowers into a cup of boiling water and allowing the mixture to steep for at least twenty minutes. Drink one cup before bed to induce sleep or any time to relieve pain. But make sure you aren't going to be driving or operating machinery as mullein flower tea will make you drowsy.
