The Healthy Way to Stay Hydrated Easily

With the temperatures gradually rising as the seasons change, you may find yourself needing to consume more fluids daily. Drinking water as your only hydration option can become routine and seem like a task after a while, so here are some easy hydrating tips you can use to keep things juicy.

When trying to keep hydrated, water is really the only way to go, but you can get it from places other than your tap. Consume fresh produce high in water content like mangoes, melons and oranges which are in season during the hotter months. When opting for produce like strawberries and peaches or other fruit with thin skin you should consider spending the extra on organic fruit to minimize your consumption of pesticides.

Besides drinking water and eating fruit, there are other ways to keep hydrated. Consider 'going raw' and drinking fresh pressed vegetable juices. You can also try incorporating the juices into soups as well. Tomatoes, carrots, and pumpkins make great soups- on their own, or as soup bases.

Instead of using plain water ice cubes, you could flavor them using slightly sweetened juice made from powdered drink mixes. Simply mix the juice as directed on the package and freeze them in an ice tray. This way, you'll be more likely to eat the ice in your drink as well. You can also eat the cubes straight out of the ice tray as ice-pops. Kids especially love ice-pops.

Smoothies are another great way to keep hydrated. However, instead of dairy based smoothies, use more water and fruit juices. Bananas are great for giving smoothies texture, and dates, honey and agave syrup are excellent natural alternatives to sweeteners.

If you're on-the-go in the days you could pack a water bottle and freeze it overnight so that during the day the ice melts and you will continually have a cool drink. You can also use juice instead of water if you prefer.

Instead of ice cream you can treat yourself to a sorbet snack, or a fruit parfait as a mid-day energy booster. If you are concerned about too much sugar consumption a great way to cut back on the sugar is to dilute fruit juice or sweetened juice with water. Many times juices are too sweet anyway, and the milder taste is oftentimes much more refreshing.

When your hydration options aren't limited to just drinking water, you'll find that it is a lot easier for you to stay hydrated. Incorporating any of these hydrating tips into your daily routine will help you get the water you need while at the same time offering a variety of ways to do it.
