The Heartbreak in Love

A.M. Morgan
It's really over

It's a sad day and thing to face

Our love is gone

It has vanished without a trace

I often wonder if we were a mistake

Another heartbreak

Another disappointment in this thing called love

The romance has died

Our love just wasn't stronger than pride

I can't say I don't care because in my heart and mind you are still there

It hurts and I have cried

We had no trust in one another

So this was destined to end it was just a matter of time

We have both been set free

I wonder since this has happened to me before,

Is this how love is suppose to be?

I read Black Mama Widow a few months back, and it is an interesting book. I like the focus on the issue of the LOVE CON. The dexterity of the word love in confluence with the appearance of it's manifestations. We all view love in so many different ways; many of which are far from storybook. Love is a personal thing, a personal experience, very "to each his own". However, returning to the love con idiom, I wonder how many of us have been "conned" into thinking we were loved. Just think for a moment of how it could be a "con" why is it every love is "greater" than before. Is it greater or just that compelling when you in it (love that is)??

Excellent poem. I agree with Gyani and Elena. True love has no conditions. If there were conditions, it wasn't meant to be. Everyone has that special someone waiting somewhere. If you have to question it, it wasn't real. You'll know when it is. There will be no question. :-)

Very good poem. Love will come again if you are open to it. Look for someone who knows that love is a committment, not just a feeling. Don't give up.

Nice poem. Love is certainly not supposed to end in a break-up. Love breaks up only when the love is not true and strong. True love is unconditional and requires a vow of eternal commitment, of course from both sides. If it happens between two people who understand each other, and love each other, I can't see how it can end in a break-up, unless ego comes in between. True love means that only the object of love exists and the self (the ego) has become insignificant in comparison.
