Bring a natural glow back to your skin!
Irregular sleeping patterns happen after most break-ups. Every day habits might have been broken and your sleeping schedule has changed, or you're just too devastated to get enough rest. Either way, you have to worry about pesky dark circles under your eyes, and find a way to get rid of them and keep them from coming back as you get yourself back on track! A quick nightly way to lighten dark circles under your eyes is to rub them carefully and gently with almond extract or oil, and then close your eyes and cover each one with a slice of cucumber.
Vitamin E is very important in maintaining a well blended and smooth looking complexion, and can get rid of blotchy or discolored areas on your face. Skin products containing a good amount of vitamin E are vital to have when you're feeling blue and heartbroken, because your skin will sag a bit and you'll need to perk it up quick. Try using face washes and scrubs that have vitamin E rich fruits, nuts, seeds, or vegetables in them as a main ingredient. If you don't have one or can't find one, you can mix a mushed and crushed up mango with some safflower oil and sea salt for a quick rejuvenating face wash!
Makeup after the breakup!
Nothing says "I don't need you" like a sexy new look! You want to look fresh and energized, not like you've been crying all day! Accentuating your eyes and cheekbones with the right makeup is a great way to look perky all day.
When choosing a foundation, sometimes it's good to keep in mind that you may need a quick fix for any stubborn dark circles you didn't plan on having. It's a good idea to buy two liquid foundations, one just a shade lighter than the other for areas where there's normally dark spots, or too much shadow. If you just don't have the cash to do that right now (and who does?), you can always count on your concealer to do the trick. If you have a blended powder, that makes it easier. Just use the gradient technique and blend to a lighter shade just beneath and above your eyes, and over the bridge of your nose. Use a slightly darker shade for the rest of your face and blend down past the curves of your jaw and cheekbones, making your makeup look more natural.
If you don't have blended powder, you can use a single shade powder or pressed powder concealer to do the job just as well. Use a loosely fanned brush that's got a big diameter, and a tiny glass or ceramic dish or bowl. Put two gentle dashes of baby powder into the bowl. When you apply your concealer with your brush, add a tiny dab of powder to the rest of your face, but only add pure concealer beneath your eyes. This will lessen the concentration of a solid color throughout the areas of your skin that are already evened out, and letting your dark circles feel the full effect of the makeup. This not only conserves concealer, but it's also far better for your skin, as baby and talc powder don't clog your pores as bad as makeup does!
For your eyes, you want them to pop out and grab everyone's attention. Use the dark mysterious look, it's an easy (and waterproof) way to hide any unwanted moisture around your eyes as it brings out any natural eye color. What you'll need is waterproof eyeliner and mascara, which is pretty standard nowadays anyway. Make sure your eyeliner is as sharp as it should be, because you want the lines both above and below your eyes to be very thin. Trace exactly along the bottom edges of your eyelids until the corner, and then trace the very top of your bottom ledge of lashes. In the corner of your eye, bring the two connecting lines to a thin, sexy point, but don't drag it out too long; you want mysterious, not Egyptian! Now put on your mascara paying specific attention not to leave clumps, and to safely get your bottom row of lashes as well as the corners.
Above your eyes use a single shade, subtle dark or light Grey, depending on your eye color. Sad eyes never look good when they aren't complemented by a corresponding shade, so if you have dark eyes you want to go with a lighter gray, and vice versa. Of course, you don't have to keep it grey. Depending on your hair color and choice of wardrobe, the lavender/plum, emerald/lime, and pink/red combinations work just as well. Your goal with your eye makeup is to draw attention away from any puffiness in your face while making the area from your cheekbones and up look perky and cheery.
Add some flair to your hair!
Been wearing your hair in a ponytail? Take it down! Got curls? Straighten it! Braid your long hair, or gussy up your short choppy locks with Threads, gel, or hair taffy! A great way you can keep your new style (or same old style) bouncy and voluminous, is to make sure it's moisturized properly in the shower or bath. You don't want to use too much conditioner, because it seriously weighs down your hair. You don't want to have over washed, dried out hair either! That would give you split ends and leave your hair too frizzy. Moderate your conditioner use or switch to a rosemary or avocado oil haircare regimen instead.
Once you take care of your moisture issues, you can give your hair quick bounce with the tiniest amount of styling products! Any quality mousse can tighten up any straying strands while keeping them light and in place, and try using a vitamin spray before you blow dry to keep your hair shiny and healthy! Towel dry first and blow dry second, brushing as you dry to keep it flowing freely as if it had no products in it at all. Let it fall naturally, and style however you want! Also, always use a non aerosol hairspray. It's better for your hair, and better for the planet!
Keep your head up!
Now that you've got all your bases covered, you're looking healthy, happy, and ready to do the things you love to do without worrying if the signs of your heartbreak are showing through. Keep your head up, keep a smile on your face, and don't let the heartbreak take your mind off your sexy new look!
