And helpless dog
I can not speak
can not shout
my barking does
not attract
any one's attention
standing on the side
of a busy highway
constantly staring
at the fast moving
traffic
waiting anxiously
and eagerly
I intend to cross
to the other
side of the road
to reach my home
I gather my courage
and
I cover few meters
many times,
however,
I retreat hastily
as cars whiz past
me
with super sonic speed
making me feel
disheartened and
lose my
courage
sheer fear of
being crushed
under the wheels
forces me to
retreat my steps
I fear for my brutal
death by fast moving
vehicles
the continues traffic
does not slow down
no body shows
mercy at me
I keep thinking
when will I be
able to cross
the road and
will reach my
Home safely?
I was standing on a very busy highway, waiting for someone, when I saw a dog that was also standing besides me, perhaps the dog wanted to cross the road, however, no vehicle slowed down or stopped and no driver appeared kind enough to allow him to cross the busy road, and all were in a great hurry to reach their destinations. Were all of them so inhuman and insensitive, this thought keep haunting my mind?

Post a CommentOh!! Poor thing!!
I feel for the dog. Great touching depiction! Thank you
Very nicely done!
I really appreciate you sentiments here. You have really put the situation into words so beautifully. Good work here.
You look even more worried than the dog....lol ,don't worry, when God made creatures , he also gave them brain to protect themselves..I am sure the dog will manage...But indeed ,nice expression of feelings.
I love this poem deepak..I know you're very good and I believe in your potential..keep on writing!
This is so touching and true!, I really appreciate!
Very apt and the feeling was straight from the heart. The sensitivity came through very well.
Very well expressed. I too sometimes feel the same while waiting to cross the road.
Well when they don't even stop for people, how can we expect drivers to stop for dogs? I've often felt like this dog myself trying to cross the cross the road in Pakistan!
