The Heebie Jeebies.
I stayed a little too late. The street lights are off and man I wish I'd left a little earlier.
This stretch of road between my buddies house and home is long and dark.
Am I afraid? Hell no! I can run if I hear something or take what ever comes my way. I can handle it!
What to hell was that? Something scampering away or is it coming this way?
A little faster wouldn't hurt.
Would my friends be messing with me?
Nah, they're home and don't like this any more than I do.
I'll walk a little faster and make a lot more noise than I usually do. Maybe I should whistle something.
This road seems a lot longer than it was last night when I came home.
I'm thinking of that guy that everyone's talking about that's been out there attacking people.
Oh ya, the hook guy on lovers lane!
I wonder if that's a real thing. Could happen I guess.
What's that over there? Just keep walking. My shoulders are creeping towards my ears now and I'm getting a little short of breath.
Oh shit, it was only the shadow of a bush. What was I thinking? Ha! How dumb was that?
Not far to go now. Thank goodness there's a street light ahead. I'm feeling a little better now. What if there is someone out there following me? I'm sure that he can see me real good now.
Maybe I'll run for a bit.
I'll stop!
Can't hear anything behind me! Who ever it is could have stopped too!
Maybe I should run again, a little faster this time.
I can see the house, a little faster.
What was that behind me? Can I make it to the porch?
Ah, made it, now the door!
Please, please open!
Yes!
Slam.
What going on Son?
Nothing mum!
You're breathing awfully heavy, what's going on?
Nothing, really it's nothing!
My ass its nothing, I'm scared shitless.
Well, I made it again tonight. What's on TV and what's to eat?
I get to live another day and no one is the wiser.
No one knows what just happened and now I can make fun of some one else that tells of a similar situation.
Oh ya!
This living in the world of dark and scary isn't for everyone. You've got to have it together and at the very least make everyone around you, think that you do.
Now, how can I use this evenings experience to put the same fear into someone else like, maybe my sister?
She walks the same route to the movies. Oh, this'll be great!

Frank, Carmen directed me to your page. This is good and funny. I have couple you might find entertaining. "The Longest, Most Terrifying, Two Mile Trip Ever Made" and "Terror Strikes on A Lonely Deserted Road". I enjoyed this.
full of emotion good job
Frank, brings back old memories of the boogy man, new follower, can't wait for more!
Reminds me of Bill Cosby's "9th Street Bridge" routine, where him and Weird Harold walk home past 10 PM from a monster movie. Very funny stuff, Frank!
Damn big brothers! Ha! Very fun......
Just like a brother! LOL
My friends and I experienced a long walk like this many years ago...someone had to study and wouldn't drive us home. That person was a real "meanie" too! Well done!
Oh you're so cruel! I would've loved to jump out of the bushes and shout, "BOO!" Nowadays those fears are well founded. Great article!
