He left his home,
And departed from his friends and family.
He longed to serve
The nation that he loves so fervently.
He volunteered to take up arms
In defense of liberty;
He found himself in a fight one day
With a bitter enemy.
On a battlefield
Where his courage shone as he bravely fought
To keep his country free;
Where he shed his blood and he gave his life,
Where he fell heroically.
He came back home
He returned one day to his friends and family.
We honor him,
This nation that he loved so fervently...
