The Hidden Mickeys of Magic Kingdom's Adventureland
Pirates May Have Stolen the Gold, but They Left Mickeys Behind
Alright so your day has been spent enjoying the fairy tales in Fantasyland and the olden days of Liberty Square before having a rootin' shootin' good time over in Frontierland. Now you have just gotten soaking wet on Splash Mountain and are heading behind Pecos Bill's Café towards the alleyways where pirates lurk and look to pillage whatever booty you may bring their way. Tropical birds and Tiki gods are hoping you hear their song and proceed to sing along. Or maybe a leisurely (?!?) boat ride through the jungle or a carpet ride around a crowded marketplace is more your speed? All of these things and more can be done as you search for Hidden Mickeys throughout Magic Kingdom's Adventureland.
~ Taking the queue on the left hand side will allow you to check out this first HM. There is a fake fireplace along the way and if you look a good six or seven feet up on the wall to the right of the fireplace, there's a perfect tri-color discoloration.
~ Padlocks on gun cases and other such things in the queue and ride itself are the Mickey padlocks like on the stocks in Liberty Square.
~ As you sail through the treasure room (final scene) with Captain Jack Sparrow surrounded by riches; be sure to look at all the lanterns on the surrounding columns and back walls. Underneath and attached to each of them is a small tri-circle Mickey-looking cookie cutter type thing.
The Enchanted Tiki Room
~ Check out the perches of some of the main birds in the show as you'll see a couple variations of the tri-circle Mickey head. Either shaped into the metal of the perch and upside-down or shaped with little bamboo circles.
~ I have been told of one that is on Iago's perch ever since "new management" took over the Tiki Room, but I've never been able to see it actually. If anyone can confirm this one for me, please let me know at dacox415@yahoo.com.
Jungle Cruise
~ As you are entering the Jungle Cruise area, check out the sign for the ride. Under the word "Exotic" on the sign, there are some barnacles that form a perfect tri-circle HM head.
~ There are reports of numerous HMs spread throughout the ride on trees, boats, sheds, rocks, golden plates, etc... Some seem possible while others are just totally off the wall nuts and nothing close to an actual HM. Ask some of the cast members when you're there and I'm sure they'll be happy to show you some of them but don't really put much time into it.
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
~ Check out the jewels embedded in the ground around the attraction itself and you'll see a few Mickeys. Some of the jewelry has the tri-circle head designed on it while other HMs are three jewels strategically placed.
~ Supposedly there is one on the wooden base surrounding the ride and you can see it when looking down from above, but I've never actually spotted it.
Swiss Family Treehouse
~ One of the cooler HMs I've ever seen is this silhouette of Mickey's head but not in the traditional tri-circle sense but a side view of his head. As you walk down the steps from the first bedroom, look on the trunk of the tree against the house and you'll see it. Mickey's head is in the middle of some green algae and moss.
~ In the dining room is a much easier HM to spot. On the table are place settings but only one has two mugs. The mugs are Mickey's ears and a big red plate is his head.
Adventureland is always so much fun and looking for Hidden Mickeys makes it even more enjoyable at times honestly. For some reason it's the atmosphere of Adventureland that sucks me in and I love how you can travel through a pirate town and then into the streets of Agrabah before walking up a giant treehouse all with a seamless transition. Believe me that there are plenty of HMs to look for too because I've found all those listed above and been told of countless others.
Please feel free to let me know if there are any I've missed or that you think are truly there. Oh, and for those that are brand new to the world of Hidden Mickeys? Don't let searching for them ruin your trip to the happiest place on Earth please. Always make sure that you are taking in everything and enjoying all you can while there with friends and family. Hidden Mickeys are fun to look for and find, but there really is so much to do that you don't want to be on a wild goose chase for your entire trip.
