The Hidden Mickeys of MGM Hollywood Studios' Sunset Boulevard

Music, Terror, Beauty, and Hidden Mickeys All in One Place

Those of you that have no idea what a Hidden Mickey (HM) is need look no further then my first article which explains exactly what they are and how they came about.

One of my favorite areas in all of Walt Disney World only has two rides and one show, but it's so much fun that I could spend four to five hours there and never get bored. The rest of Hollywood Studios has been ever so gracious as to show us every single aspect of the filming industry. You've now seen movie-making from on camera and off camera and even a bit of animation in case one of your dreams may include being a voice actor or animator. Hollywood has a lot for any budding actor, actress, director, producer, writer and so much more, but not everyone can always make it out to California to learn more about their hopeful future. Disney has a great way of making everything easily accessible for guests and giving them all a small taste of what to expect.

Time to move on to that favorite area of mine I started talking about and bring to your attention that this could end up being a place you don't want to leave either. Guests can experience the beauty of love in a tremendous stage show devoted to looking past the outside appearance of a person and realizing who they truly are. They can also rock out so some fantastic music while traveling through the hectic streets of Los Angeles en route to your very own concert. And if thrills and chills are right up your alley then it's time to picture if you will...a fancier time when the glitz and glamour took center stage, but those that enjoyed it never knew what was in store for them. Hold on to your hats and watch out for Mickeys as you travel down MGM Hollywood Studios' Sunset Boulevard.

Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage

~ Help me out here everyone as I've never found any in this attraction even though I've seen the show dozens of times. Shoot me a quick note at dacox415@yahoo.com if you've ever found one or a few.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

~ Check out the huge mural on the outside of the building that depicts Aerosmith standing up in one of the limos with a family of guests. There are three HMs in this mural and the first one (or many) is on Steven Tyler's shirt as he has Mickey heads all over it.

HM number two is on a necklace chain hanging around the neck of guitarist Joe Perry.

The final one is found by looking at the little boy in the front of the car who obviously has Mickey ears on his head.

~ The first room you enter in the queue actually has two HMs, but they're right next to one another. Look on the tiled floor as you're leaving the room to see 3 circles of equal size positioned perfectly for Mickey's head. I know they're all perfect circles, but it's far too coincidental to not be a couple HMs.

~ Much like Test Track with the coiled hoses, look for a coiled cord HM head in the pre-boarding room where you first "meet" Aerosmith. Sometimes it is there and other times it is not. It also can change position in the room and be in different spots on the floor.

~ Each "super-stretch" limo has a license plate on it and the year sticker in the corner is actually a tri-circle Mickey head.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

~ Before entering the building, look up on the railings and you'll see a very familiar design to give you your first HM.

~ On the concierge desk as you walk into the lobby is a small lamp with a green shade. Around the top part of the lamp stem is a circular design with a tri-circle HM on it.

~ Pay attention to the little girl that steps into the elevator while you watch the introduction video in the library. Notice the little plush Mickey Mouse in her hand?

This same Mickey plush appears later on during the ride, but I wouldn't necessarily call that a separate HM.

~ Before leaving the library, look around on one of the shelves for a couple pages of sheet music underneath an old trumpet. It's really cool to find this HM because the sheet music is for a song called "What? No Mickey Mouse?"

~ You'll enter the boiler room next and walk through the queue to a point where it splits into two separate directions. Look to your left at this point and about six or seven feet up to find a dark water stain in the shape of Mickey's head.

~ Upon your final approach to the "big drop;" look carefully and very very quickly at the swirl of stars moving around in front of you. Right before all the stars disappear, a Mickey head appears dead center.

Wow, that's a whole lot of stuff to do all in one area, but it is well worth spending a ton of time there to do it all again and again. Coaster is so much fun and it really is a good idea to ride numerous times so you can see just how many of the different songs you can listen to and rock out to. Tower of Terror is just incredible and most of the time I'll find myself laughing hysterically after exiting. Hidden Mickeys are everywhere though and guests can look all over the place for them as there are so many to find and probably even more that these eyes haven't seen yet. Have fun if you dare and picture if you will.

Please feel free to let me know if there are any I've missed or that you think are truly there. Oh, and for those that are brand new to the world of Hidden Mickeys? Don't let searching for them ruin your trip to the happiest place on Earth please. Always make sure that you are taking in everything and enjoying all you can while there with friends and family. Hidden Mickeys are fun to look for and find, but there really is so much to do that you don't want to be on a wild goose chase for your entire trip.
