Does it not seem that in an age of technological advancements, in fields such as aging; (yes, they are trying to find out what makes us live longer!) robotics, hydroponic growth methods of food production and advancements in such areas as nanotechnology, that we, as a society should be advancing, not regressing? We have more than enough food to feed everyone on the planet while hunger and reliance on government assistance is more prevalent than ever. We have the skills and technology which can build homes, hospitals and schools all over the world but we spend money on defending the notion of freedom, instead. Starvation and disease is more rampant than ever. We have all the technological advances that should launch us into the next century, feeling proud and confident in our ability to take care of ourselves and the planet, but instead we are down and out of work and just barely surviving.
Throughout the earth, there are two types of resources. Resources in the form of people, skills, labor, information, (what you might call social resources,) as well as plenty of what might be referred to as raw resources; food, energy, water, land, metals, etc. The earth and the people in it are in abundance, so naturally we need to fight over them and in the marketplace, (meaning the job market) compete over them. (Can't get something for free, you know!) Our resources continue to increase while our purchasing power and thus, incentive to progress; decreases. The real reason that the economy is failing is not because the housing market is failing or even because people are out of work, these are only symptoms of this social disease. The real reason is, because the monetary system itself is failing.
It is doomed to fail, not only because money has no inherent value, but because money is debt. It is created out of debt. To create money, governments have to have something to give in exchange. So, in order to get money in return, the United States government draws up government bonds, fancy looking pieces of paper, which act as I.O.U.'s in exchange for dollar bills to the Federal Reserve. Then, the newly created money, is made available to the banks, and then they lend it out at interest. The ammunition of interest ensures that, there will always be more debt than money in circulation. So, economic stimulus plans that inject the system with more debt are not going to work. If they do work, it will be like a quick jolt of electricity, then nothing. The whole system is not much different than you being in debt with your credit card. The rates just get completely out of control, until your faced with buying necessities or paying it off. This is what is happening in this country, and in the world at large. This is careful and crafty manipulation and it is the barebones process whereby money is created and it is how it is used to manipulate the masses.
Every man, woman and child, not yet born, on the face of this planet is in the same predicament, and the predicament is just this; we have more than enough resources to take care of everyone on the planet but we are all deep in debt. More money cannot solve our problems because we now know that money is debt, and you can not solve debt with more debt! Needless to say, this is the real reason that the worldwide economy is failing, and will continue to do so. We are all in the dream where the goal is a foot from you, but every time you reach for it, it moves a foot away. The game cannot be won because the rules of the game are fixed.
