The Hills, Final Season: Got Crazy?

Episode 4 Recap

Alexandra Morgan
After several years, MTV's reality show, The Hills, is winding down its last season, and what would a final season be without an intervention for the "officially crazy" cast members? That's just how last Tuesday's episode closed - a dramatic and tear-filled intervention for Speidi (otherwise known as Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt). I say the term intervention loosely because neither Heidi nor Spencer were present, come on, you didn't really think they'd let two crazies into an exclusive LA event like that, did you? Alright so I'm making light of this incredibly serious event, dang it, I did it again. Truth be told, the intervention consisted of Stephanie (Spencer's sister), Holly (Heidi's sister), Kristin, Lo, and Audrina, who all gathered at Kristin's house to discuss the severity of Speidi's issues, and ultimately, to blacklist Heidi and Spencer.

Kristin and Audrina tried formerly to meet with Heidi to let her know that Spencer was out of control and that she needed to do something about him, to which Heidi, as per usual, defended her love for Spencer and insisted that there wasn't a problem. Let's just recap for a second some of Spencer's recent behavior, he has: screamed arbitrarily at random people in public, verbally assaulted several cast members, openly admitted to controlling what he lets Heidi do, and threatened physical harm on at least two cast members. I'd say there is indeed a problem. Of course I say that with the grain of salt which it's due, since it is a reality show. That's my opinion at any rate, for what it's worth.

The point of Kristin's get-together was really to establish fault with both Heidi and Spencer and to vow that they would all cut Speidi off and stop enabling them - it's about time! But again, I realize this is a reality show and you can't kill the golden goose, at least not until nearly the last episode, when you can count on the drama-hungry viewership to tune in to see if it's really over or there will yet be one last hurrah in crazy town. And yes, I am part of that viewership, what can I say, it's like a car accident you can't stop looking at. Besides, I like the thrill of watching people who are card carrying members of crazy town, takes the edge off of the current state of the world, and makes me feel a little more...well...normal and well-adjusted.

Tune in to The Hills on MTV this coming Tuesday at 10 pm to see what happens next. If you missed episode four, you can view the entire episode here.
