The Hills and the Lohans

The Hills, MTV's hit series, has been renewed for a fourth season. This means our favorite reality soap will bring more fashion, drama and great music. These final episodes should set the tone for the new season. Hopefully Lauren and Audrina can repair their strained friendship (no thanks to Lo), even if Audrina feels moving out maybe the best thing. Heidi's career at Bolthouse takes her in a great new direction but Spencer's unexpected intrusions may hurt her professionally.

Lindsay's Fashionable Mistake

Lindsay Lohan has taken celebrity perks to a new level. While at a party in New York's 1 Oak club she left out in a blonde mink coat that wasn't hers. To add insult to injury she kept it for close to a month. Masha Markova, a Columbia University student, was at the same party and was actually sitting with Lohan at one point.

Two weeks after reporting the coat missing to the club, she discovered Georgia Rule star in a photograph in OK! Magazine wearing it. Masha threatened to sue Lindsay if the coat wasn't returned. Upon finding out, 1 Oak called Masha to tell her that they were bringing her something but didn't say what she was to expect. According to The Post her coat, which cost $11,000 and was a gift from her grand mother, smelled like cigarettes and alcohol and there was a tear in the lining of the coat. That's not how you found the coat Lindsay, didn't your mother teach you better than that? It was later dry cleaned; Lohan's rep didn't return calls regarding the matter. At this particular club (1 Oak) there wasn't a coat check area, you just toss your coat on a pile of others and hope for the best when you leave. Masha's hope apparently wasn't that high.

She's asking that Lohan pay $10,000 for having the coat in her possession for the three weeks she was wearing it.

This leads us to the oxymoron....

Dina's the Best Mom

Lindsay's mother, Dina Lohan, was recently honored by Mingling Moms as "Top Mom". How amazing is that? This isn't a dream by any means, it's all very real. The mother of one of Hollywood's party girls is a wonderful parent, go figure.

The president of the charitable organization told the New York Post's Page Six "Dina is such a dedicated mom. Through all the ups and downs of Lindsay, she's been by her side." By her side indeed, at a club, on the red carpet, but not when it matters most. Like being the type of mom to guide her on how to live her life without consistently making a fool of herself. Remember, Lindsay's been in and out of rehab and supposed to be living a sober life but doesn't it look like she's fallen off the wagon again? Not being able to remember what coat you wore going in the club is a sure sign that she hasn't learned from past mistakes.

To add a more glowing compliment to the Lohan matriarch, ex-husband Michael told TMZ she was to be at a court-ordered family therapy session not far from the ceremony at the same time. The praises keep coming; you know she's going to have a reality show on E! Entertainment with youngest daughter Ali set to join. After seeing the tumultuous streak Lindsay's endured and then some, why would Dina bring Ali into this lifestyle at an early age (she's 14)? Ali needs to focus on being a teenager and not use her sister as inspiration until she gets herself in order to where she is a positive influence for her little sister. Partying, being late for work, DUIs and taking things that don't belong to you are not the makings of a role model.

Mingling Moms Organization is based in Long Island, NY. The ceremony, honoring other celebrity mothers Rae Stern (Howard's mom), Betty Seinfeld (Jerry's mom), Shelly Stevens Herschlag (Natalie Portman's mom), and Lillian Robinson (Eddie Murphy's mom), will benefit breast cancer research.

Now that Dina is the mother if all mothers, she has some sound advice for Leticia Cyrus, Miley's mom, on how to deal with the current Vanity Fair photo faux pa. She says, "Just stay strong and keep your head up....you know and be her mom."

Mind you, the two mothers don't know one another and witnessing the parenting skills of Dina, Miley's mom has nothing to worry about; Leticia will be fine. And who said Dina Lohan was the spokeswoman for celebrity mothers? She's not a very top notch mother; Lindsay shouldn't have had a second DUI, among other things. If anything, Dina needs to take a refresher course in what it takes to be a mom. No woman is or should be too busy to be a mother to her children.
