The Historical West End holds a tremendous wealth of history. The West End Marketplace building was originally constructed in 1911 for the Brown Cracker & Candy Company and the Oilwell Supply Building was built in 1922. Today, both buildings have been renovated and are residence to marvelous retail shops and restaurant/bar establishments. (http://www.dallaswestend.org, 2007).
What would the West End be without entertainment and attractions? The West End is home to some of the most entertaining, interesting and fun recreational happenings that will definitely get your night started right or to top off an exhilarating day of touring Dallas, Texas. The "American Airlines Center" is home of the Mavericks, Stars, and Dallas Desperados along with hosting major concert events and is just a trolley/shuttle ride from the West End. This trolley service is in full force during the major events and home games so that you will not miss a beat of what the West End has to offer. Another popular attraction is the "Sixth Floor Museum" and "Dallas World Aquarium". The "Sixth Floor Museum" presents various exhibits and seminars on the life and times of President John F. Kennedy. The John F. Kennedy exhibit is a major attraction and is a great place to soak up in-depth knowledge of our former president. The "Dallas World Aquarium" is amazing. The "Dallas World Aquarium" features 85,000 gallons of marine life from all around the world. Truly awesome!
The Historic West End is best known for its fine dining and renowned restaurant establishments. My favorites include; Morton's of Chicago, Landry's Seafood, The Corner Bakery, Chipotle and Joe's Crab Shack. Landry's Seafood restaurant is elegantly decorated and has an inviting atmosphere. Landry's Seafood can get very crowed early, especially during lunch and early Friday dinner hours so if you plan on making this a restaurant of choice. Get there early. The Corner Bakery lures in with their fresh breads, tasty sandwiches and to die for desserts. This is a great place to just hang out and people watch. You can't miss it. It is located right on "the corner" in the West End. There are many other dining facilities that have been a staple of the West End, such as; Dick's Last Resort, the Cadillac Bar and Gator's Croc N' Roc. These are great for drinks, tex-mex and burgers.
The West End offers visitors and Dallasites a place to just unwind and relax. There is so much to see and do at "the End" that you may have to make a second trip just to capture what you missed the first time. We welcome you to come and experience an exhilarating stroll or a lovely carriage ride at the Dallas West End. Visit www.dallaswestend.org for more details.

Post a CommentI know this wonderful lady who is in need of a job, she is currently my nanny but unfortunately my son is of age to attend pre-school now. She is very honest and reliable, probably the sweetest woman i have ever met. Please let me know my email cindypai@baylorhealth.edu , she cleans and babysits from 8-5. Wonderful lady!
thanks so much
I must been living in a box! I have to check these places out soon! Thanks!
Frequented the West End shopping district (and the Spaghetti Factory) years ago. My favorite memory was of the "Dixie Chicks" playing on the corner by the Spaghetti Factory, for tips. They were there nearly every Saturday afternoon, back when only us West-enders enjoyed their sound. Yep, the sisters (and their pals) even belted out their own songs (and a few familiar country oldies) just as professionally on the Dallas street as they do now!
