The History of the Measles

The Measles is a virus that is highly contagious, not only passed though coughs and sneezes but also passed by touch. It's considered to have started as an animal disease that mutated to one susceptible to humans. Big cities are a necessity for the Measles to be able to thrive, without human contact it cannot spread, so city living and close association with others helps the disease to sustain and spread causing epidemics.

The history of the measles is interesting, it may have been around since Before Christ, some plagues mentioned in history may have been measles, or could have been something else, however a reference to the measles described by a 7th century physician Rhazes was stated as being worse than Small Pox. In ancient times little was known about the human anatomy and nutritional benefits, medical treatments for lowering fevers, and other more modern treatments were not known of and therefore were unavailable.

During the 20th century before 1963 almost everyone got the measles with an average of about 3 to 4 million cases per year and the typical death rate was around 450 annually. While todays over exaggeration of the measles and the dangers it possesses, back in the day when I was young and everyone got the measles, we really did not give them much more concern than a case of the flu. The history of the measles and time had changed, we could treat the fever as well as many other symptoms, but there was still the fear of blindness or other complications.

Before the vaccine came out the history of the measles was changing with lowering numbers, the disease itself appeared to be on a significant decline. After the vaccine for measles came out in 1963 the number of cases continued to drop. Today there is some controversy over the measles vaccine, especially that of the MR vaccine. Prior to 1963 autism was very rare and almost unheard of. By the mid 1970's some TV shows started revealing this previously rare condition, and today with many vaccines the numbers are increasing drastically. Although the debate is on and scientific studies, (which have been funded in large by the Pharmaceutical companies), have failed to reveal exactly what causes autism which is not hard to imagine since we don't even understand what Autism is and why it does what it does to the individual. It is difficult at best to find the cause of something when you don't know exactly what you are looking for. On the other hand, there are almost countless cases of people who have watched their child revert from a normally developing child, into the world of their own called Autism Spectrum Disorder within 24 hours to 2 weeks of receiving their MMR vaccine. This is very compelling evidence considering not all parents vaccinate at exactly 15 or 18 months, but thousands of repeated testimonies almost sounds like parents who don't know each other have corroborated their stories, we have so many times ourselves heard stories of others and have sat back and said, they have repeated our words and our stories exactly. With the advent of new vaccines, the incidence of autism has risen drastically to number 1 in 150 are now autistic. When weighed against 450 deaths per year, one child out of every 150 having autism really should make us weigh the risks to the benefits.

According to Dr. Mendelsohn in his book, "How to Raise A Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor", He quotes statistics that the number of measle cases were dropping off from 1958 to 1962, the year before the vaccine, cases dropped by 300,000 and during the next four years after the vaccine they continued to drop by another 300,000. Surprisingly he also states that the measles were dropping off in Europe as well where they were not vaccinating. perhaps the drop is due once again to our cleanliness and disinfecting cleaners since measles can be passed by one person with measles handling something, then someone without measles handling he same object can catch the measles.

In the 1980's it was discovered that the vaccine, unlike the illness, does not give permanent lifelong immunity and a booster shot was required. once you have had the measles, you are immune to them for life but the vaccine falls short of this immune system learning curve. In fact, the dangers of postponing the measles to an age past 15 may in fact be more dangerous to those who get the measles later in life than it was in the past for a young child to get this virus. For girls the risk of putting off Measles until adulthood could potentially put them at risk during pregnancy.

What we do not yet know, nor does the pharmaceutical companies is, how many cases of cancer are caused by carcinogens in the vaccines. How many people are simply putting off an illness until later years when their bodies are not as adept to handling illness as a child's body is. Using foreign animal proteins, how many other potential viral or bacterial agents might be able to hitch a ride and lie dormant in the body until an opportune time? They cannot remove everything and many times as the case of SV40, foreign viruses that can cause cancer or other ugly diseases can be injected unknowingly.

As the history of the measles has evolved, alternative treatments to the measles have been discovered. Many studies have been done and research has taught us that Measles causes a reduction of Vitamin A. As a result, vitamin A treatments for measles has been tested with remarkable results, not only do vitamin A treatments help to reduce the severity of the measles, but studies have shown that individuals with measles on a double dose treatment, (see references below), death rates dropped significantly. According to one study, the number one cause of death during the measles is Pneumonia and the death rates dropped by 67 percent. Also, death rates are considerably lower in the developed world most likely due to our advanced medical procedures and the availability of treatment as apposed to that of the undeveloped world.Even if the measles are vaccine induced, Vitamin A levels should be determined and possible treatments given, however caution should be used since you can get toxic doses of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is vital for the immune system and normal growth of the child.

In 1900 there were 13.3 deaths per 100,000 attributed to the measles but with medical advancements and cleaning habits, by 1955 the death rate dropped to 0.03 per hundred thousand, or a 97.7 percent decrease, (reference Dr. Robert Mendelsohn's book)
